ZX Spectrum Vega

Lol, nothing changes
He is still asking peoples cash up front so he can go and manufacture them...

Good Luck Clive, looks like a fun gadget.

:)

Seems like a nice little thing, and it looks a lot more true to its roots than that Bluetooth keyboard that Elite Systems ran a Kickstarter for!

£100 !? If the price were £30 or £40 then it would be good to buy :)

this is great , how do i play the hobbit tho?

Mmmm Interesting I suppose, but not trying to knock the Vega, but I am sure that the wealth of creative talent on this forum could do that same with a PI and a Speccy case for half the price ;-) .

But good luck Sir Clive and Retro Computers :-) But my money has already been spent on Reformation Matt Gray Kickstarter Project

Another kickstarter fraud....this must be the dumbest and ugliest thing i ever seen.

What if they make it with the same expansion possibilities as the C64 joystick that Jerri Elsworth made? Sure it's not an original spectrum but it is a pretty cool gadget nonetheless. Made target within a few days and I honestly would have pledged for one of the first run of 1000 units if I'd caught it sooner.

This is precisely why I like the idea. I'm honestly not all that likely to buy one (I didn't grow up with the Spectrum, and there are more cost-effective ways of getting into it than this machine at its current price), but I do love cloned and re-created hardware, and feel that such efforts deserve more attention than they get (often the response to them tends to be one of pointing at emulators).

never mind just having a mini zx spectrum , make full size one with a keyboard and the same internals.

The full sized zx is as big a fag packet anyway.

i can't play Rigels Revenge on that !

is this going to be using the same parts as the originals for the innards?

They're a little bit too late, this would have been a great little Christmas seller, something to buy your dad that he'll use on xmas day then put back in the box. I don't see any enthusiast wanting this, not when you can pick up a cheap 48k and DivIDE, then you're good to go :)

I'm a Speccy boy and would never buy something like this. In fact, I know it's late but I'm feeling the urge to get my 128k Toaster out :D

i would never buy one...looks like crap, then again i always like the original machine as a computer so i would be very biased

alot of the software would be unplayable because of the lack of keyboard i imagine(no idea if one can be added)

anyone remember commodores short adventure into console land with the c64?...

EDIT: it seems they are going to review a keyboard option...it has a onscreen keyboard apparently

i would imagine this has nothing spectrum like inside it,probably a micro controller emulating the spectrum using a sd card for storage

If not for the apparent price, I'd say that I suspect that this isn't the target market, really. It really seems more like something that would be aimed at the impulse-buy nostalgia gift market, as the plug-and-play joysticks/joypads craze of about a decade ago was.

For some reason, I'm now reminded of that bit in Micro Men about "The man who brought you Jet Set Willy!". I guess that's the essence of the way this should be being aimed.
