I'd buy one if it wasn't for the signatures... Pity.
I thought the signing was definitely optional? That said, IMHO petro IS an amiga legend and I'd be quite happy to have an amiga signed by him.
So, thanks to Petro... we still are able to enjoy Amiga's and is Amiga Incorporated still an existing company..Petro Tyschtschenko started with Commodore in October 1982. He was responsible for Sales Logistic and Purchasing with Commodore Germany. He was then promoted to Director of International Material Management and Logistic in 1986. He was first responsible for Europe and than for the world wide Logistic Operation. In 1994 Commodore went bankrupt and Tyschtschenko managed the deal between the bankruptcy court in New York and ESCOM AG, which acquired successful all the intellectual property of Commodore and Amiga in 1995. He revived the Amiga A 1200 and Amiga A 4000 production and was acting as a President of Amiga Technologies GmbH in Bensheim. In 1996 ESCOM AG went bankrupt and again Petro managed the deal between the German liquidator and and a new buyer. Gateway, Inc. acquired all existing assets from Amiga Technologies.
Before Commodore, Petro held key management positions at 3M, Pegulan AG, Felten & Guilleaume AG and AM International.
He is also the same guy who give away some copies of the OS3.5 CD in an Amiga show, long years ago.Well, he did his best to keep Amiga alive while under the Escom AG-flag as CEO of Amiga Technologies. Also he used to be CEO of Commodore, so he actually did things.
I also have an autograph of RJ Mical ;-)
Looks like I might be getting one of the very last units
As of today, my Petro-Amiga died.. probably caused by the capacitors who are not functioning the way they should.
When I got the Amiga, it started up and the same evening I installed the Indivision MK2 and CFcard and on that the Workbench 3.1.
Because I had to wait (still am as a matter of fact) I didn't use the Amiga at all, workbench was booting and it all seemed fine. Yesterday I re-opened the Amiga to put some stuff on the CF-card (like high-res drivers, WHDLoad, MagicWB and such). Put the CF card back and booted, no problems. Started to unpack things and at the third or forth unpack the screen went all crazy, like old TV systems do when they don't have signal..
Ok, soft reboot and everything came back just as normal. Weird.. ok, unpacking again, installing, unpacking and again.. hmm..
So, power off the whole Amiga. Give it a rest for 5 min and booted again. No problems.
So, I went on unpacking / installing and then it did the same again. And that's the last time I've seen my half-ready MagicWB install...
Currently, the Amiga stays in a reboot loop and doesn't give any output. Even without the Indivision (tested it) it simply doesn't give any signal (apart from, hey, here's a signal that I'm connected.. so, TV is autoswitching to the correct channel)
This is what the Amiga does at this moment:
![]()
Sometimes it does something like this:
![]()
(it's yellow)
also this one I've seen at least 3 times:
![]()
So, I'm guessing/hoping a capacitor replacement will fix this. It does look like it (as I've heard).
It's reads the boot partition of my CF, but immediately goes into flash-the-power-light (3 times) and rebooting (and doing exactly the same). When I put in a FDD (Install WB 3.1), it reads that and sometimes it looks like it's actually booting from it. No output whatsoever (with or without Indivision)
Sounds like thé reset circuit issue... This is where the reset circuit thinks the keyboard is continously sending a soft reset response to the motherboard.. thought that issue was more prevalent on 600's though?
I'd buy one if it wasn't for the signatures... Pity.
I thought those i saw with it was signed by choice. but everyone is? It's damn hard (to impossible) to remove permanent marker from the plastic. I've been treating my acorn a3020 to remove it by using alcohol - but while it is faint, it is still there.
If it was signed by the late Jay Miner or one of the other famous heads behind the amiga, I would however like one.
Never mind, my bank cocked up! And they wonder why ppl dislike them so much!Did any other folks outside Germany suffer from Petros bank charging him to receive your funds transfer? Petro has just advised me he got 20.50€ less than I sent him when I sent him the precise amount in euros and paid all the fees up front inc currency conversion!
Here in Aus the banks all work on a sender pays principal and aren't allowed to slug you just for receiving funds electronically! Not a happy camper right now!
