68060 on ACA500 Amiga 500

So I had a go at this today

Using Toni's 060 libs and latest FW, it loads up but with Classic Workbench Full if I click on any Icons it guru's, can use the shell fine though but if I load any programs it crashes too.

If I boot without Scalos then I can use Workbench fine but it still crashes when I try to launch programs. I guess I need to use a more basic Workbench setup and try again.

Cool to see a Blizzard 1260 running on an A500 though

Standard quick reply: you have too old setpatch or you need dummy 68040.library. Your system is not using 68060.library (No FPU = not in use) and also runs slowly.

I copied both 040 and 060 library from your archive so I guess I need to update setpatch then?

Check by running setpatch manually: It should say "68060 support code loaded".

C:CPU should say "CPU 680x0 FPU: 68882". It may say 68040 CPU if command is too old, it does not really matter, but if it does not include "FPU: 68882", 68060.library is not loaded or not working.

Has anyone got the Apollo 1260 running on the 500?

i used my PPC / 060 on the aca500 to flash update the firmware - so I know that works.

may need Toni's skills on the libs

I think whilst the cpu on the apolllo works the fast ram does not rendering it pretty much useless.

I belive the only cards to work other than aca are the blizzards.

If you only get black screen at startup = hardware incompatibility (For example accelerator board simply refuses to work with 16-bit bus). Software can't fix it. If ACA500 menu appears and it hangs later: software may be able to fix it.
