It's on the way!
Items received and tested C16 CPU which worked great. Not yet tested Plus4 CPU, but gave positive feedback already :)

Thank you for creating these kind of products for community!

EDIT: And tested Plus4 CPU as well. And it obviously worked well too.

Hi,
before declaring interest (which I am) I would like to know what incompatibilities remain for a Commodore 16 PAL upgraded to 64k,
thanks

Hello MCes,
I appreciate the work you've done with this and its usefulness. Before declaring interest, however, I have a few questions, since I am not an expert on C16 with a MOS 8501R1.
My C16 powers on, but the video output is black with a bit of static noise. I've tried both the RF modulator output and the composite output with new cables, but I had no luck.
I don't have the means to test all ICs, but I suspect it could be the CPU, since it since it is the most common thing to fail. So, I wanted to ask:
1. From your experience, what is the probability that the actual problem is with the CPU, and not other components? I visually inspected the traces, fuses, and done some basic testing with a tester, and the other chips all seem fine.
2. Does this CPU replacement need any other parts, like a modified KERNAL or RAM to work, or is it just "plug and play"?
3. Does this work with SaRuMan's TED 64k RAM expansion?

Thank you for your time.
Regards

Hi Toffoli,
Each C16 failure is a unique story, but statistically the reasons for a failure like yours is (in sequence) CPU, TED, PLA.
Also the RAM chips can esy fail....

The CPU4C16/CPU4PLUS4 are a "plug and play" replacement for the C16/Plus4 CPUs (the 6502 is included), no mods on motherboard are required (ROMs or other..).
There is no problem known with RAM expansions (SRAM & DRAM)

Declaring interest.
