Well, I realize what I'm asking for is not the most common thing in the world, and it would probably be easier to sell my A1000, buy an A500, and get a hard drive for that, but it's the first computer I owned and I grew up with it.

Anyway, I'm looking for a hard drive that would plug into the sidecar slot (or whatever it's called) for my A1000. Doesn't need to be especially large, as I'd just be using it with my OCS games that support hard drive installation.

Thanks!

You can fit an a500 hard drive you know? But the 1000 edge connector is the wrong way compared to the A500

It just fits - back to front. I.e the rear of the hard drive is on show when looking at the amiga.

So if it has a scsi on the hard drive rear , you'll see it facing you.

I've used gvp hd8 and other hard drives on my 1000.

Mike.

You can also check with our member tomthul to see if he has any Zorro adapters left. If so, you can get one of his adapters then add any Zorro II hard drive card to your system. :)

Good luck!

I have an original C-LTD Hard Drive for the Amiga 1000. Used to run a BBS off of it years and years ago... It's in storage and I can pull it out, think I still have the disks for it somewhere also... Don't remember all the stats, it was the "biggest" 50mb one.

If your really interested I'll pull it out and test it...

Well, there are more options than I expected. I did know bout using a500 sidecars on the a1000, but I forgot about it. It would work, though not necessarily aesthetically pleasing. The Zorro adapter is a really clever piece of hardware, but I'm not a fan of bare boards while hardware is running. Especially with 2 cats in the house.

Matt3k, if it's not too much trouble to pull it out of wherever you have it stashed, I'd be interested, depending on what you'd be asking for it, of course.

Thanks everyone.

Also Matt if your bbs is still on that HD back it up for historical reasons..

Great idea Chris

Great idea Chris,

But I long ago deleted the BBS to use the drive to backup my 3000 to. Looking back it would have been neat to boot it up and have fun.

Sold the drive to Prot88 hope it serves him well (hope it survived flying over the ocean...).
