Is a normal A1200 PSU enough to run an A1200 machine with a ACA 1233n/26,67MHz installed?

Thanks!

I'm running a ACA-1231/42 without issue, so would assume you should be fine... although all PSUs are not created equal or have aged gracefully!

Not sure if a NOS unit would be much better then your existing PSU, its still going to be 20+ years old!

And a device that has been unused for 20 years is more likely to have bad caps as the caps need to be charged regularly to not develop leak currents which will cause it to overheat and possibly vent/leak when eventually powered up.

So what are most people using for their frankensteined A1200s etc. - at a guess modded high quality 500W+ ATX PSUs?

I'll vouch for the EOS VLT60-3000 as well which is also what I use in one of my Amiga PSUs. A modern ATX PSU is not good for Amiga usage since it is designed to have its main load on the 12V rail and is rather weak and noisy on the 5V rail.

I also have another modded PSU with a (genuine) PicoPSU inside which is also a very nice and solid solution:

An older ATX power supply optimized for 5 volt not the recent ones and a small resistor on the 5 volt line could be a cheap and effective solution. You could have luck and not need the resistor. On my A4000 I needed to put a small load on the 3.3 volt as well to get a stable psu with a more modern atx psu.
