things have moved on since this thread started! anybody offering this as a service or a kit ?

would love it!

Do you mean for the whole setup or just the cable?

For me the most fun comes from the build and creating something special, having someone else do everything for you would take away from the experience IMHO.

I even feel bad I didn't do the cut and make the cable myself but I know where to draw the line between my skills and idea's!

I don't have your skill tho!

I have just done another A1200 slot and am just putting the drive in position and have come up with a nice idea for clamping it using a swish rail clamp lol,but the beauty is if it needs to come out in the future it can!
This one will probably go on here, might sell and swap for the upper case of another A1200:thumbsup:

If you can do this as an exchange with my nice white top then I'd like to make a deal?!

I take it this plugs into IDE socket?

For ref I'd like a plug and play off poss that will still connect to either CF Or hd?

If anybody is interested in the job.

Cheers!!

Hi Guys,

I have a little project update to share with you today :)

As some of you might have seen in elsewhere on the boards I recently got a Blizzard 1240 which I've given the Stachu 060 makeover :ninja:

P1070003.JPG

As you can see she has the Rev6 CPU for better overclocking and runs cooler. Crystal is socketed so I can experiment, I don't have a 75mhz crystal here to play with but Stachu tested it at 75mhz already

Here with my SCSI kit that would be no good anyway, 60mhz is normally the limit but I seem to be lucky and mine runs at 66mhz with SCSI working too

Here she is installed in my A1200 along with the SCSI Kit, SCSI Card reader and my IDEFix Express/Indi MkII. CD Drive is removed for now as it's easier to open/close for tests...

Here are some screenshots/benchmarks:

Drive tests, first is IDE, second is SCSI.

SCSI Speed is limited by the Card reader :coffee:

Of course, the thread would not be complete without a Video!

that was a nice video steve.

can you boot from the card reader?

Glad you enjoyed the Video, I think I'm getting better at making them now!

Indeed you can boot from any bootable CF/SD/etc hence the basic Workbench 3.1 on the 16mb SD Card :)

The 2gb CF has a small bootable partition too with BetterWB installed, I just had it hidden in OS3.9

It's really handy for launching Games that want a lot of chip Ram or don't play nice with various patches in my OS3.9 setup.

Thanks again for making up that cable, it's awesome

Oh and thanks for the Ram! You recognised it right :D

yes mate,i did recognize the memory.

i was just wondering how far you was going to clock that beast:D
(i know your looking for that 75mhz crystal)

anyway,i really enjoy watching these videos steve, keep it up:thumbsup:

Well I just used it for the last 30 mins and you could fry an egg on the CPU so 66mhz is plenty

I'm sure I could push it further with active cooling but then no SCSI...

And that's the whole point really.

I'll have to dig out a small fan for the heatsink though :)

personally i think these are fast enough for everyday stuff mate.

i would have more memory than speed, speed is just a bonus:)

I agree, everything I want to run is fast enough at 66mhz, the only thing that would benefit from 80mhz is Quake II and to be honest aside from looking at it and saying, cool... I have other systems I can play it on, even my AmigaOne if I want to play it in an Amiga environment.

The only thing I'm not happy with performance wise is ShapeShifter but that's limited by the AGA chipset, nothing I can do there unless we get a graffiti driver for the Indi MkII, again I can use it on my A4000 with RTG so no big deal. I'm now set for all Amiga eventualities with just 4 systems

That should keep er' cool

Until I find a nice quiet HS/Fan anyway! Off to eBay to send the 6 quid Mike just sent me

(That's the fan off one of my old BPPC before refurb, still works lol)

£10 , go wild :-)

Geez mate you're too kind

So that fan sounds like a Vacuum cleaner

And it's not efficiently cooling, I guess it's too small for the heatsink so I've taken off and clocked down to 50mhz till I get a more efficient and quieter fan :)

Just had a 20 min blast, temps are fine at 50mhz with passive cooling :)

Ordered one of these from Farnell:

Hopefully it's good for keeping her cool at 66mhz without the noise of a fighter jet taking off, I honestly forgot how loud the BBPC fan was! :ninja:

Two more slight mods today!

Firstly, I found a quiet fan in my box of bits :)

P1070022.JPG

It's a bit too tall but it will keep me running at 66mhz until my new fan turns up, after 30 mins Quake the cards were still only 'warm' which is good news :)

I also started on the cut for the Card Reader, I still need to tidy up the edges with the files, round them off a bit to make it look better, but it fits which is the main thing!

P1070024.JPG

That's it for now, Coffee time :coffee:

Neat cut there stevo, love it, might try one of these multi bays, hey bud the mechware site has been down for weeks, are they closed down now?
