Even though I'm about to sell off my Amiga collection I'm already looking to replace it! I'm looking to keep things "modest" this time with a spec'ed up Amiga 1200.

I've basically gone through the Amigakit website and cherry picked what I want but I'm also looking for recommendations.

Amiga 1200 - Built to order:

Kickstart 3.1
Disks 3.1 OS
Amiga Mouse
Magic Pack bundle
Indivision 1200 AGA MK2cr
ACA 1232/40 Mhz 128MB Accelerator
EASYNET PCMCIA NETWORK CARD
AMIGA 1200 PCMCIA CC_RESET FIX
Real Time Clock Module

I'm assuming that the SD cards are better performing that the standard spinning drives?
Does anyone know of a faster ethernet card available?
Any other kit expansions people would recommend? Want to keep this in the original box not going to pop it in a "big box".

Not necessarily, I prefer mechanical hard drives myself as I find them more reliable in holding data. However, SD cards are OFC, silent and more flexable (I.E. You can set one up in WinUAE and then move it to a real machine for ease of use).

As for the ethernet card, why do you need a fast one? Also why would you want to surf the net on it? I'd seriously re-think the priorities as it's really no fun for such an old machine with all this Javascript and Flash around, and even if you did, it really wouldnt benefit from a faster card anyway. If I were you i'd just stick to PCMCIA if you really want to get on the net. Better yet, use an EasyADF transfer kit and transfer files accross. If you insist on a network card then I don't think there's any option for 1200 cases so you would have to go down the tower route and use a busboard. As I said, far more effort than it's worth. What you have specced up currently is the ideal WHDLoad games machine which is more than you could ever need out of an original 'Miggy IMHO.

You can save yourself a few quid and get an Etherlink III PCMCIA card and get some drivers (free) from the AmiNet database to get it connected.

Not sure Amigakit actually do built to order a1200s any more.....Are you sure that isnt one item where "stock expected:TBA" is on the page for years?
Network card can be useful for accessing a shared drive - its actually how I transfer files to/from my miggy unless I pull them down from Aminet directly - but as said above, no there isnt a faster PCMCIA one I dont think.

What about an auto joystick/mouse switcher?
Consider searching retro-protect on here for a cover.

I'll have to give Amigakit a call see if they still sell A1200's. If not then I'll get one from here or ebay.

This is all about an over tech Amiga. So if there's a faster Ethernet card about I'd like it. I've had a hunt ofc but not seen anything.
Joysticks, I've kept my competition pro 5000.

PowerPC card would be nice but I'm not to spend the cash on that.

Well if you are going over tech you need a blizzard 1260 and scsi kit....

Amiga 1200 - Built to order:

Kickstart 3.1 [good idea]
Disks 3.1 OS [why bother?]
Amiga Mouse [Wireless is more practical, use a Micromys V4 Mouse Adapter]
Magic Pack bundle [You probably won't use any of the the software]
Indivision 1200 AGA MK2cr [good idea]
ACA 1232/40 Mhz 128MB Accelerator [good idea]
EASYNET PCMCIA NETWORK CARD [good idea]
AMIGA 1200 PCMCIA CC_RESET FIX [not needed]
Real Time Clock Module [good idea]

All Ethernet PCMCIA cards are slow because the bus is slow (16 bit), just get one that works :)

Yep CF is better than a real HD, a 44pin solid state HD module is sexier.

Software with an 030: 3.1 + WHDLOAD key + PFS3 + and ClassicWB

You can get HDMI output from the Indy using Kipper's adapter, that's a nice mod
