The only reason that I want a 16bit mode is to install PowerIcons and the use of ADPro 2.5, that's why.

---------- Post added at 16:58 ---------- Previous post was at 15:59 ----------

This taken from amiga.resource site:

screen modes
* 1600×1200×16 interlace
* 1280×1024×24 non-interlace

So, why I cannot a 1440x900x16 interlace mode then? Maybe I have to change some jumpers on the card, but I don't think so.

Because keropi forgot that PIV supports interlaced, which consumes half that of a normal resolution in memory.

I was thinking that it was why it was working for you.

But I didn't have time to do fact checking before posting, but now you've done it ;-)

As far as I concern, I have to use Interlace mode to see a proper 1440x900x16 or 1440x900x24 modes, right?

But when I choose Interlace mode, I always get an "Out of Range" message from my monitor. :(

My Monitor is an LG 19" 1934SB (B=Black) which can handle:

Horizontal Frequency: 30 - 83 KHz
Vertical Frequency: 56 - 75 Hz

@ Phantom

Buy a Professional Series CRT Monitor. :thumbsup:

Noooooooooooooo.... I want my eyes m8.... :D

I had a chat with Keropi via MSN. I had the idea to use CGX4 instead of P96 and WTF, I was right and thanks for Keropi for his help.

Now I can see this f****n' 1440x900x16 bit mode... :thumbsup:

nice!!!
that proves my theory that CGX is way better than p96 :p (I always hated p96 because of it's ackward config programs...)

You could copy CGX's settings that work OK with said resolution and try them on P96... the main problem with PicassoIV+CGX is that you loose the overlay function that is needed for paloma to work...

Yes, and I need Paloma... I'll try it later. Not even Pablo works.

always hated p96 because of it's ackward config programs...

We need an knowledge exchange on this. Because I've learned to, if not love, like Picasso96TNG Mode program.

Using it, I've tuned the Picasso96 flicker fixer so that AGA modes can be shown on my LCD. Then I use CGX4 for my screen modes.

And when I need a new screenmode, I'm lost as I understand P96 programs a little more.

well dear arnjlot, it all boils down to personal preference :) I just hate p96 configuration utils , I find cgx ones more straightforward

Hey Arnljot I want your help m8 regarding the Picasso96TNG app. Please help me how to configure my SD/FF PAL resolution.

Same for me too. :thumbsup:

@ Phantom

Pro Monitors generally have much Higher Refresh rates than just any old nasty VGA affair. Your eyes are damaged by flicker on nasty VGA Monitors, .....not Professional Monitors. 85Hz is flicker free for me, but I can still see flicker @ 75Hz & 60Hz on any CRT Monitor just really pi$$es me off. :thumbsdown:

60Hz on LCD's also narks me, because enabling VSYNC to ON when using an LCD locks the FPS to 60 & gaming is not as responsive @ this frequency.

As stated earlier I use CGX4 and I can see clearly a 1440x900x16 resolution, although in 50Hz (I think the card is on its limits now?). The clock frequency is in 94,27 (that's strange), as P96 settings cannot go further than 85 in clocking. That's strange ain't it?

The problem is if I will stay with CGX4, I cannot use Pablo settings, nor Picasso96TNG settings anymore.

Is there any solution to make them run even under CGX4? Copy the specified libraries maybe, or I will make my system like a "salad"?

@keropi and Kin Hell

One thing is personal preference, the other is that we "need" to be competent in both.

So this weekend, I'll try and compile a "piv-lcd-aga" howto for Phantom. And we'll probably be online on MSN while we do it.

This is soemthing we should make tutorials on.

I'm okay with CGX4, but gave up on P96 for the same reasons as keropi. :nod:

And what about Pablo Prefs or Picasso96TNG? They don't seem to run under CGX4. :(
