Hi all,
After watching this for a few weeks, I just wanted to make everyone aware of a potential Ebay scam.
From what I have seen, it looks like a guy is hi-jacking e-bay stores and is advertising a A4000T loaded for $2000 USD with Free shipping.
According to his listing (which is a .jpeg) you "Do not bid" but e-mail him (latest e-mail is a Gmail address and changes).
Fusion here tried for it before Christmas, thats how I found it.
Anyway- He says the "T" is in the USA, but you have to send the payment to the UK- via bank transfer only (even though the auction says paypal), plus you had to "link" your e-bay account with his, another words give hime full access to your account. His whole e-mails sent off alarms to Fusion, and Fusion sent them all to me to ask my opinion- this was right before Christmas.

He has since then posted the same Auction 4 times, each time under a different e-bay store and the last 3 times with the same Gmail address.
He has listed the auction twice today, with his auction getting shut down within an hour or so.
Hey, this all could be legit, but it smells so fishy to me that I just wanted to make everyone aware.

I saw this too. When I found the auction I decided to do a search of 4000T completed auctions and the same 4000T was sold several times so I knew it had to be a scam!

Thanks Glen, definitely something "relevant to our interests"

I really hate these scumbags. Remember, if you're on eBay, always play by their rules and use their system correctly, it's the only way you'll be protected in the event of something going wrong.

I was bored last night so I emailed him... the reply was nothing ti do with the question . More Trolling will continue later,

My Question was, does it have any battery leakage and do you have any pictures of the area.. the reply was:

Hi there,

This item is not available for bidding, i am selling it at buy it now price of US $2,000.00. If you bid on it then you CAN'T take the buy it now feature. Transaction will be handled by ebay, so we can both be protected and able to exchange feedback after transaction is successfully closed! I will offer a 30 days inspection period for the item, so if by any reason you are not satisfied with it, you can return it against a full refund!
If you do want the deal, just let me know.

Thank you,
Gregory Parker

Im tempted to point out thats not what I asked and that It doesnt have a buy it now price and that all bids are legally binding :D

can someone pm me the link i want to troll him too:lol:

I saw this, too, and it seemed off right away. You can buy it now for $2000, but there's no buy it now option. Any bids will be cancelled unless you contact him first. Something just isn't right here.

That and the fact it is under a completely different Ebay store every time it pops up.

I think we all need to ask him the battery question.

Link would be nice.

eBay links of that sort are against AmiBay's rules, If you'd searched for Amiga 4000T, you'd likely have found it, although it looks like it's been pulled now.

There is no buy it now price, it is an auction, and all bids are legally binding on ebay If I bid on it and you refuse to honour said bid, this is in breach of ebay rules and is also illegal as the bid has to be honoured by both parties.

Anyway, do you hjave any pictures of the battery area, as originally asked?

No i don't have other pics beside what you saw in the listing. Thanks, Greg
You would think he could take pics of it if it belonged to him :D

is this still on ebay? if so, has anyone told ebay about this?

scratch that, it must be over now surely.

The auction was pulled withing 24 hours of me finding it last week. I found it emailed the guy and the next day the auction was gone and did hear from the scammer until 3 days later asking to link ebay accounts.

Interesting scam but I doubt anyone will fall for it.
