A4000D not recognizing floppy

1.76MB is not a must for me right now, so I left the 880KB drive from the A2000 in there, for now.
I just want the A4000 closed & usable!

Btw, a friend gave me a GVP I/O extender Zorro card (has PC compatible parallel & serial ports).
Is there anything interesting I can do with it on the A4000? (only thing I own with a parallel connection is an old 100MB Zip drive)

The parallel Zip drive doesn't work in standard parallel Amiga port. Hacks have been made that utilize the joystick port. Don't know, if the parallel port in the I/O card is any different from the standard port.

The card might be good in networking your Amiga to PC, though.

Also Amiga Explorer and/or serial PPP to the PC (acting as a gateway) will run lots faster.

For AExplorer: Amiga Explorer, of course.

For PPP you need a "modem emulator" on the PC. Built-in on win98 up to XP, just a matter of searching. Yes, it is a real pain in the butt to make work, but worth the effort for a real expanded Amiga (030/50MHz and over with a respectable amount of RAM* and a graphics card).

*respectable: 16Mb and over.

If all you want is networking both computers just use "Hombre" (available at Amiga Wikipedia).

You may need an obscure little program to free the PC parallel and serial ports when using winXP.
