A4000T owners group

How many of us are there on here? There can't be many, and we need to stick together.

The A4000T is sufficiently different from other Amigas that people who are very knowledgeable about Amigas seem to get things wrong about the A4000T. Makes it a bit of a nightmare when trying to get technical support.

Anyway, make yourselves known here if you want. Hopefully we can help each other out.

Hey @cluterone, let us know when you get it, set it up and start selling admission so that some of us can perhaps come over and oooh and aaah at it in person.

I'd also like to ask some questions as I continue to admire these beauties.
1) Seems like towers just dwarf monitors. I feel like a tower needs a nice CRT. Something 19" or better yet 21". Something maybe aperture grille like a Mitsubishi or a Sony. Anyone rocking an Amiga 4000 Tower out there with a large CRT? Can we see what a 4000 Tower next to a large CRT looks like?
2) Turbo button does nothing, right? Anyone repurpose it for something cool?
3) Who is using both video slots these 4000 Towers exclusively offer? What cards have you got in there?
3a) Mega bonus points for someone who's using an Indivision to not waste the video slot for a flickerfixer AND has both video slots occupied with video hardware. If this is you, what's your config? What cards have you got in those two video slots that isn't a flickerfixer?

1) I use a white Phillips 23 inch LCD, looks great!

2) The Turbo button turns the built-in speaker on or off

3) Never heard of anyone doing that. The ZZ9000 will make all of your dreams become true

nope its a Micronik A4000D tower conversion Kit

Had 2 of them, but sold both of them. I just lost intrest in having big box Amiga's. It was fun to have them and I learned a lot with Cyberstorm MK III and PPC versions in there. SCA80 scsi drives and lots of other things.
Today my Amiga 1200's and 500's are good enough.

Today it is equipped with CyberstormPPC 060 rev.6 and 128MB + ZZ9000. I must admit that it is my least used Amiga today, but indeed very nice to have.

Overall the PCB is really bad quality, so you need to be extra careful when doing work to it.

That is also one of the reasons I sold it, you are nearing the point when it becomes so fragile, that includes Cyberstorm's as well. I know it's not really allowed to talk about prices, but the rates these things are going for, is just insane! I do get it, it has it charms to have one. But like you said, you will use it the least. I remember having them on at clubdays or other events, but that is about the only the action they were getting. Includes the 3000T and T040 as well.
Dont't get me wrong here, I will buy or rescue every 3000 and 4000 I can get my hands on, but it has to be a fairly low price or something like a good bottle of whiskey, I am not going to risk large amounts of money on these things. Batteries leaking in the 3000 and poor design on the 4000D and 4000T motherboards is what Commodore liked to do to reduce the costs. It's one of the reasons, if you look at a CR 4000 board, you'll get it.
Don't get me wrong, as a 030 board it runs all day, but it's age that matters now

I am also using one of A4000T made by AT, after recap.

So far no issues with it, I hope I will not face the nightmare described by @JHanna in his threads.

I own 2x Escom A4000T; I used to own 3 but they never sat together in the same room... they were half a planet away from each others.
I'm now in Australia, with them, and both boards have been serviced (one with ceramic capacitors, one with polymer).
A machine was bought NOS... but not as NOS as I would have hoped, unfortunately.
Both cases are going to go for a repaint at some point.
I have to re-assemble them too...
I'm after few OEM parts (feet, for example) which I would consider buying for top $$$, if boxed.
In the meantime I have designed and printed my own... haha

Sadly my case, that had a fresh powder coating on it did get a nudge on the move to the house Else, it works now after my last fixes.

I designed a shelf that could host both my A4000T and A4000D + CRT at once and I am still very happy with that.

Hiya, Been an A4000T owner for 8 months now . Almost finished the upgrades and build. One thing I really need, is the floppy drive model number. I have misplaced my original drive from it when I had it completely disassembled... I know sod's law will dictate I find it the day after I buy it's replacement :-(.

@highpuff - Great work on the shelf! I love the monitor, is it a 1942? I have always wanted a 1942 and or a 1960.

My A4000T - 040 Toaster Flyer machine came from TWA Airlines. It was used to run a kiosk in one of the terminals. I bought it in October of 2004, it still has the TWA asset tag on the back. It sits right next to my A3000T-040. I bought that new from Creative Computers in California, USA. I can't believe that I have been storing the original shipping boxes for over 30 years.

My wife always gets on my case about keeping original boxes until I remind her that the resale value goes up with the boxes, and then she reminds me that at some point I have to sell some of my gear. And then the conversation ends. hehe
