A4000T PSU Options...

Inspired by a similar post regarding PSUs for the A4000 desktop, what are people doing for their A4000Ts?

Spent a fortune on mine and a load of cards, motherboard has been recapped, not sure if PSU has. Would sooner replace it with something modern in case it fails and spikes.

I'm assuming modern PSUs are a lot better than they were in 1997...

As far as I know, the A4000T can use a standard AT form factor power supply. Not to be confused with an ATX power supply that uses an electronic style switch. The AT form factor has a mechanical switch.

Yes. But unfortunately AT PSUs haven't been readily available for about 15 years now, hence my question.

I use a Super flower Gold (650w) Power supply on my A4000T.

It's connected up to a ATX to AT power adaptor from Amigasore.eu, these use high quality cables so suited to heavily loaded machines.

I really wouldn't trust an old AT supply unless it's been properly refurbished, in the days when my A4000T was heavily loaded with CSPPC, Mediator, ect, I could smell burning one day, I found it was coming from the P8/p9 connectors on the original Enlight AT supply, these were getting so hot they actually started melting, I replaced it with a higher rated used AT supply on eBay but that also failed within months.

Well, it's all depands. Original Escoms PSUs were cheap chinese crap. If you replaced it with quality PSU from that era - you are good to go.
I would PM this guy, and use such adaptor with modern quality PSU.

I have been using this power supply for roughly 5-6 years now, and at least I don’t think it's still available from new. I do like this one as it's never give me any bother, there is also a handy switch at the back to disable the eco mode, so under the A4000's low power load the fan still spins up and creates a decent airflow, but not fast enough that it sounds like a leaf blower.

The new A4000T cables mentioned from a.mi.goun look like a tidy solution, and he can customise them to tailor big name modular power supplies that are still on the market.

ATX PSUs latch on, and there was a way you could shut the Amiga off by software by unlatching. Can't remember the details.
