OK time for some painting and assembly of the prototype. The colour is not a match of the final product, it is a little too white to match the original cases. The texture is close to the case I have and the Escom / Amiga Technologies Cases. There is not a plan to paint the inside of the final cases, in this instance it was just easier but more costly and more time consuming 😑

Testing was done with an Escom/Amiga Tech Bezel. The aim is for the Commodore version like below....

Thoughts, suggestions, comments welcome!
Would you consider a repainting service for existing Escom/AT cases?

I could do that but it would be time consuming/costly stripping the old paint as it’s too thin to sandblast

I think this is amazing and can only imagine the blood sweat and tears into something like this. Cant imagine this will be cheap but i think its 10000% worth it please put me down for one when they are ready - The attention to detail is really pukka.

As suggestions

  1. Would others also agree if the front face could at least be painted too? would be a nice stop gap for those who dont have bezels yet.
  2. Also if you make some painted 5.25 bay covers then that would be fabulous.
  3. The top switch panel, could you make something up in painted metal?
  4. The floppy disk module has the option to connect a fly lead / DB port - this would provide external floppy as these were always missing. The DB could either go to a PCI bracket OR you could make a hole at the back and leave a blanker?
  5. Gold go faster stripes - like the original?
  6. Side window option to show the guts
  7. Honeycomb expansion port/pci covers
  8. What is your master plan for the internal speaker?
  9. Not a suggestion but an observation, the fitment looks better than the escom crap for sure!
  10. The brace bar and tie wraps are superb ideas

1) yes if others want it
2) “ again
3) “ again
4) yes no problem
5) yes it will come with stripes!
6) yes that could be done
7) yes if we must 🙃
8) picture to follow soon on the speaker
9) hopefully it will be refined a bit more, some more was learnt during this one.
10) thank you, I’m trying to make this better. The cable ties will change somewhat, it dawned on me that these need to be reusable so either the press in metal blocks for the cable ties I originally was going to use or another option has to be found as the ones by the mainboard will be a royal pain to get out and replace with the current type.

@Ordyne - is the PSU fan on top or bottom of the PSU? If top, then i'd wonder about creating an extraction fan mount here:

Also, the A4000D has an "expansion" knock-out on the back of the case which there's a few peripherals or brackets made for. Might be nice to provide one of those on here as well, for compatibility?

Love your work and attention to detail!

The 3 you have circled and the one larger below it are the same as I’ve used on my A4000D reproduction case which has some accessories already made or can have vented plates fitted instead. I could also look at doing a vented section down the rear at the size of the Zorro card area. If needed I could add some way of adding a fan over the expansion slots although I’m not sure it needs anymore with the 120mm up front? I can look at it if that’s what people want 🙂

What about make it able to accept 4000d and 4000t motherboards ???
It’s a possibility after this is finished as the main goal is to have enough people the fund the commodore cover to be injection moulded. So more people with cases to take the front cover = more people interested in the crowd funding!

Very nice indeed well done @Ordyne hope you sell parts when you go live.

Really like the alternative Vertical mounted dual 5.25" Drive Bay

I'm 100% interested in this and great work as well Ordyne, I just hope I have the cash spare(y)

I would be in for 2 front covers & 1 case also.

I'm in for a complete set as well as at least 1 extra front bezel (maybe more). I believe Enlight made cases that were convertable between AT and ATX. If that were possible with this case, it may open up more interest. I think this would be an outstanding option for sleeper and retro builds (which I'm already planning for).

Suggestion - have an option for the vertical 5.25" drive area for a fan mount bracket?

bottom fan for card slots, top fan (somewhat smaller) for CPU area?

I know the normal bezels with stupid flappy doors will ruin the point of having a fan there, but i'm hoping for a different bezel, or to just run the system the way it is :)
