I am super interested in the complete set (case + bezel)!!!

As I said, a reworked version of the case is possible and I am up for doing that so a4000d owners can get a version that will accept the A4000 mainboard and daughter board. Making it accept the A4000T and A4000D pcb’s from the get go isn’t an option but it can be not too far behind 😃

Would be good to know if the case for the A4KD mono will be able to accept the Mediator MKIV tower case Daughterboard or other options to utilise the Zorro/pci slots. Obviously the A4KT is first up.

The ATX version of the A4000 mainboard is a yes, as is the standard A4000D and daughter board.

Regarding the Mediator I’d need a good group of people wanting to order one and someone to loan me a daughter board so that might be a little bit harder.

Not necessarily. I have a spare MKIV. 😉Happy to send it to you for measurements etc. let me know over on PM when you think you need it for.👍🏻

So the A4000 desktop case seems to be well received, I'm still working on small improvements to it, I've not finished working on it or making cases my any means.

I'm still working on the front covers and I still want to push to get them injection moulded if there is enough interest, I got a bit stuck until the new printer arrives as compromising the orientation in the current one is causing issues. I've been trying to print missing parts for my A3400 with issues of some description..

So, ive started the 4000T. I hopefully have some assistance with a loan of the front plastics (not ESCOM/QUICKPAC I already own one of those) The metal work is pretty much the same.

What we all need to do is decide what we need to update / change.. for instance the unobtainium drive rails... They will be a total pig to copy, it means making tooling to copy how they did them to hold the stainless levers in, should me use a modern off shelf plastic part and make the drive cage to suit? Cooling... etc etc....

Here is a little teaser, it doesn't look much... the case is full off little awkward bits!

Let me know your thoughts, LOTS left to do... I'm only just getting started on this one.

Oh and it needs a name!
So what are we hoping for a rough timeline on this project? It's looking quite exciting!

Personally, the drive rails are internal and not visible, so why go to the expense of making special tooling for the things, when there are plenty of modern ones available. Maybe it's time to put up a poll to see how many people are willing to contribute & buy the injection moulded front?

Did I already mention what a sight for sore eyes this is, I surely did ! :) Feeling like a kid in a candy store, to repeat once again: definitely would want to buy the full package !!

OK, now the latest batch of A4000D cases are leaving the building I can get back to this.

With perfect timing Randell Jesup sent me a care package to help out……

Yes that’s an engineering prototype CBM A4000T front cover

I made a steel box for Randell to ship this over to the UK, he really has come through for us to make this dream come alive. This is the original design idea which IMO is better than the one Commodore put into the very short run they did.

Now I can copy the CAD information and fill in the gaps with the actual item. We can also ad in the original design notes 1:1 now this is in hand.

I hope you are excited as I am :D

Count me in if/when they become available for order!

I am double interested now.
Still willing to have a dignified case for the A4000TX mobo instead of the poor PC tower i had to buy (still waiting to be built together).
Now i have acquired an A4000T Escom with a battered case which will be nicer in a clean one.
If you still need the plastic front to reproduce it, you can use mine which seems in good shape apart from yellowing. I don't have the tower foot however.

The reproduction will be of the original Commodore bezel and door NOT the Escom 'flat' design!

No love for the Escom one? Being flat, is it not easier to reproduce?

By the way, apart from the front cover, is there any other difference between Commodore and Escom ones?

A HD floppy in the Commodore version and 060/50 options in the Escom/QuickPak versions! But the fact the Escom bezel and door design pays no homage to other C= Amiga case designs is a big step down from the original C= design! Plus there are only 200 ever made of the original! It's ripe for relaunching! The hinge needs strengthening though!

Ok. Some sources say there has been only 35 working ones by Commodore + 35 non working ones, whereas there should be between 5000 and 20000 by Escom.

About the PSU, it doesn't seem to be Amiga specific. Would any AT PSU be ok? Does ordyne plan to use an ATX PSU like with his A4000D cases?

Yes, like I said very few C= models so all the more reason to remake those bezel and doors as I'm sure you agree that they look objectively better and more like an Amiga should?
