Hi Franck, I have to withdraw my order, since I found out I already had one of these switches (a DKB one) ! I had it for so many years that I totally forgot it... it was hidden somewhere under a lot of Amiga related stuff... stupid me !

Salut Franck, désolé je dois annuler, je viens de retrouver un switch DKB, qui fonctionne exactement de la même façon, dans un tas de trucs Amiga au fond d'un carton que j'avais complètement oublié ! En l'installant, il a très bien marché :

Hi Franck,

Will this work in an Amiga 2000A? Does it fit both mechanically and electrically? The A2000A does not have a Gary chip.

Thanks!

Hi! No problem my friend, I'll remove the line for your switcher into the table.
Bonne Année 2017! :-)

Hi Christian,
As Explained by Excalibur, the Reset signal can be picked up onto the pin 18 of the 68000. This is the method to use to make the switcher works properly onto your A2000A.

Best regards,
Franck

I'm actually working onto the new version of the manual of the switcher.
I hope to upload it today.

Hi Franck,

thanks for the quick reply! Will this still work if the A2000A is equipped with a A2620 (the 68000 then needs to be removed!) and will it allow the 2000A to use a 512K ROM which otherwise would need some modification to the mainboard?

Thanks for your help!

Hi CK,

Why do you remove the 68000? When you install an accelerator board, you just needs to open the case, and plug it into the CPU slot of the A2000.
I've made like that onto my A2000. It's not an A2620, but I think it's the same for your accelerator board.
Do you have the installation manual of your accelerator board to check if it's necessary or not?

What modifications are needed for a 512K ROM. If it's the same as for rev5 and less of Amiga 500, yes it will allow you to use a such ROM (for the KS3.1) without any modification onto the motherboard of your A2000. I don't own the version of A2000. I'll try to find the schematics of the A2000A.

Best regards,
Franck

Hi Franck,

A2000A models (made in Braunschweig) need to have the 68000 if a CPU card is to be used. You can check here: http://amiga.resource.cx/manual/A2630.pdf on page 5.

As far as I remember, pins 1 and 31 of the Kickstart ROM need to be connected in order to be able to use it in A2000A models (as stated here http://www.vesalia.de/d_kick31_a2000.htm). But I am not sure if this is all that needs to be changed. Basically, A2000As are pretty much similar to A1000s.

Hi Christian,

Okay. I have taken a look at the manual. I didn't know this specification of the A2000A.
Without 68000, the easiest way is to solder a wire under the PCB on the pin18 of the 68000 socket.
I'll try to find the schematics of this version of A2000A to see if there is an another solution. The pin 18 is used to pick up the Reset signal.

For 512K ROM, it's the same as for the Rev5 and older of Amiga 500 motherboard. In that case, the KS3.1 onto the ROM2 socket of the switcher, the Rev. Selector jumper must be closed between pins 2 & 3. Nothing else! :-)

Franck.

Switcher received!
I will test it as soon as possible.

Thanks Franck

Hi David!

I'm happy that you have received your switcher! :-)
Let me know when you'll have tested it.

Cheers,
Franck

I add a line into the A500/2000 table for 3 ribbon switchers and one line for 2 A1000 switchers into the table of the A1000 switchers thread. :-)

Best regards,
Franck
