I actually completely agree with the guy. Obviously some websites can rely on donations, paid content or just plain goodwill and spare time/money of its founders, but others do rely on advertising. And especially with the Google ads which are always rather discreet, but also with banner ads in general, all you're doing by blocking them is hurting your favourite websites financially. I mean, if an advert is overly intrusive, physically hides page content due to poor coding (and can't be removed), or slows down my computer I'll probably block it - but that doesn't apply to many ads at all. I can even tolerate ones at the beginning of videos as you can usually skip them.
