Is there a way to boot ADF disc image files without writing them to floppies?

I bought a key for WHDload which is great but virtually none if them have cheats! ADFs normally have trainers attached ;)

A lot of the WHDLoad games have trainers and cheat options built in.

Have a look at the docs for the game - if there is a cheat built in it will explain how to switch it on.

I use the fmsdisk.device with a lot of DMS files I have (don't know if it will work with ADFs though).

Here's a link: http://aminet.net/package/disk/misc/fms_20

As Dave said, there are a couple of slaves which include trainer, and you will find them (if any) in the tooltypes.

That is part of the README from the Dennis WHDLoad pack ;)

I'm sure I've seen an adf mounter on Aminet but can't get onto it at the minute - I keep getting server error

Replace your floppy drive with a Gotek floppy emulator and you can boot the ADF files from USB ;)

I second the recommendation of a "Gotek floppy emulator". I replaced the floppy drive in my A600 with one and it's brilliant. Load a USB stick up with ADFs, then boot into Workbench and set the adf's you wish to use from the usb stick and it saves it to a list file, then when you reboot you can select any of the ADFs from the LCD number display and they boot just like a real floppy disk. I've also got a HDD with WHDLoad installed so it makes for the best of both worlds.

Thanks guys. Seen the Gotek device but I feel hacking the Amiga case is sacrilegious!

Who said anything about hacking the Amiga case????????

You have zero need to modify the case.

You can simply use the drive externally and feed the IDE cable through floppy hole or out via the back trapdoor. Or alternatively just remove floppy drive and put the Gotek in its space. The USB socket and buttons are then accessible via the floppy drive slot.

Some WHDLoad authors, if they don't put a trainer in, will list the known cheats in the readme.
