This is my second (or shall i say third:huh:) car in the family. Not restored yet but planning to begin anytime soon.

It seems that me and the kids really like riding it while my wife either prefers our C-Max or the New Beetle Convertible (which is currently for sale but i doubt it will change hands)

Just digging up this old thread because I was reminded of it yesterday. Earlier in this thread, I posted about my truck that I bought near three years ago now:

Someone made the observation that Americans tend to drive a lot of bigger vehicles, which is definitely true. Still, I didn't think my truck was too bad. As I walked out of work yesterday, I had to take a picture of the line of vehicles. Mine is one over from the left.

Yep! My truck really isn't very big when compared to the things other people around here drive.

You should show your colleague with the Dodge this Youtube;

Land Rover Defender vs Dodge Ram Cummins

Might not feel so "compensated" after watching that. ;)

Why don't you thing the New beetle convertible will change hands? Does it have problems?

My wife had a 2004 New Beetle Convertible 1.9 TDi. Was a really nice car to drive, other than the really bad rear visibility, and the worst headlights I've ever seen (didn't really light up the road at all). But it was also the worst car ever for going wrong, which was a big surprise to me considering VWs are meant to be really reliable if you believe their own marketing.

Things that went wrong/failed on it included: clutch failed at 70k, passenger airbag sensor and airbag ecu failed, air conditioning system hoses perished and all needed replacing, coolant system hoses all perished and needed replacing, coolant thermostat failed, electronic boot release failed (had to reach into boot thigh ski flap and pull cord), interior light switch broken, driver door window switch unit loose and would come away in your hand when trying to open window, folding seat lever would come off in your hand.. and many more issues I forget.

We managed to part exchange it for a good price with the airbag fault still present, and with a very noisy cambelt flywheel, which in think was going to be expensive.

We have 3 cars at home. 2 of them are lease-cars, one of my wife (VW Up) and one of me (VW Polo 1.2 TDi). I'll get a new car somewhere in januari which will probably be a new Renault Megane.

My third car is my own company's car. It's mainly used for transporting the band I play in or to transport my drumkit. I also use it quite regular to get collections of old computers ;)

It's a 1997 Volkswagen Transporter 2.5 TDi (or in USA term, a Volkswagen Eurovan)

I'm pretty proud on having this one with this low milage on it. Only 216xxx km's at this moment for a 17 year old van which looks like above picture. It's pretty amazing and it drives still like new (17 years ago new than)...

I've also not seen this thread before. Here's my current car, a 2008 BMW Z4 3.0 Coupe:

I like to refer to it as the Bat Mobile :)

Ok, i'm sick of my old Vauxhall Corsa (or any Vauxhall for that matter!).... I don't like to spend much on cars and i'm currently looking at a Proton Impian (some of you may grin or cringe :D). It has a 1.6 Mitsubishi engine and apparently the handling has been supervised by Lotus. I'm very tempted to get one as the ones i've seen are in great condition and quite cheap to buy. I don't mind the styling either :)

Trashing a BMW 535D from Sixt as a rental down the "autobahn" every Thursday and Sunday to the client site..

LOL! This is one of the reasons I would never buy a car that was used as a rental. :)

It looks scary but fun.

As Clarkson said on Top Gear, Rentals are the fastest cars in the world! Purely because you don't own or care about them and rag/thrash the hell out of them.

The **** Fiesta I was given as a rental by my insurance earlier in the year was tested fully to the rev limiter in each gear. ;) Amazingly slow car.

I was driving a 1.1 Hyundai Getz for a couple of days whilst one of my previous cars was in the garage with an unknown fault... And what a totally gutless car the Hyundai was!

wow this thread has made me realise something... you're all far richer than me!

I drive some vauxhall of an extremely rickety variety, currently running it into the ground.

But all Vauxhall's are of the extremely rickety variety! ;)

We have just purchased a new car. A Volvo V60 1.6 HDi R-Design DRIVe in white. Really nice car to drive.. and the e-HDI (peugeot) engine returns up to 74MPG and road tax is only £30.

Only thing is getting use to the start/stop, keyless start and the electronic handbrake to the right of the steering wheel which operates in the opposite direction to any other car.
