Hey guys,

okiez, today I received the 2mb chip ram modules I purchased of some kind Amibay members, unforunately, it made no difference.... well, not much anywayz.

I am no longer getting green screens at power on, now I get a black screen for about a second then a VERY dark grey screen..... forever.

I have tried the a4k mb with an a3640 (known working) with appropriate mb jumpers set to EXT...

Tried with a Cyberstorm Mk III 060 with appropriate mb jumpers set to INT...

Tried with two different daughter boards etc.

No good.

Even tried a different set of 3.1 rom chips - no good.

I have no hard drive or floppy drive connected (which from memory makes no difference except for a prolonged boot up)... waited for a minute at a time - still no good.

This is the a4k that a friend of mine plugged in the Buster chip 90 degrees out of alignment. :)

A NEW buster has been plugged in. The buster socket looks fine (no cracks etc).

ANY ideas? Could a mb jumper be wrong? Could pluggin in the buster incorrectly have damaged something? If so, what?

Any tips, pointers or suggestions would be more than welcome. :(

@abraXXious

Time a go a similar problem in one of my A4K's.....:( But solved with a soldered SB11 :)

Really, if all other IC's are OK, try with a soldered SB11 maybe this can solve your issue.....

Of course a SBuster in wrong position can damage some IC's. Sorry, but I dont know what.

i had an A4000 that took over 4 mins to boot when nowt was connected, turned out to be the roms, but that's another story. what i'm trying to say is are you waiting long enough?

other things to try,
floppy drive cable
cpu card slot/dirty or not sitting right
can you get the early startup screen? (boot with both mouse buttons held down)

Squeeze the Buster Socket on all four sides as tightly as you can & get someone else to turn the Amiga on. If that sorts you, your socket is probably cracked for wrong insertion.

Just to clarify, do you know of any battery leakage history with this board?

Kin

Hi guys,

thanks for the tips - will try them this afternoon when I get home from work.

Kin: Will try that, but the buster LOOKS to be in perfect nick, of course, looks can be deceiving. Board was purchased with original battery onboard before being refurbed. Battery had leaked, but leakage was very minimum. However, if nothing else works, will get it checked for corroded tracks etc.
