Hi guys,

I'm happy with my sd hdd adaptor for the amiga 1200 but the orange hdd light stays on on the keyboard, anybody know how to disable this so I can see the hdd light flickering?

Hi guys, I've been so busy.

I found someone who modded this with an inexpensive mod... then I added my own mod to it also and sent it to the guy who is selling them on eBay (amigaone_haven AKA: Ian Berry) as he didn't know this mod existed.

He said he would be giving the mod instruction to the guys who are making these for him.
I'll post the two pictures in the email what I wrote below (you might want to sticky this?):

---

The picture I worked from has no heatshrink which I think is crap and really bad practice! (attached).
I have sent you my version that has some heatshrink and a trace cut not found in the instructions below (one tiny trace between both leds to cut the red power led as it's too bright and shines through the casing - less of a retro feel for me, but hey... that's optional depending on taste).
Instructions below...

[FONT=wf_segoe-ui_normal]1. Source a 2N7000 N-channel MOSFET
2. Cut trace going to IDE pin 39 (/ACTIVE)
3. Connect D pin to IDE pin 39
4. Connect G pin to 3.3V (for example on the common 3.3V side of the power/activity LEDs)
5. Connect S pin to the trace which was going to pin 39 before you cut it (for example on other side of the resistor connected to onboard activity LED).

The red LED cut mod (optional, depending on personal preference,
the green LED still flickers on activity but you cannot see this shining through the case)

I hope this helps somebody!

I know I'm late, but here is the solution I went with - which costs only a few cents and 15 minutes with prep time and all. 20k resistor on line 39 of IDE.

works brilliantly on my A600.

I can confirm this works. I didn't have anything between 10k and 33k so I went with the latter. The HDD light on my A600 is maybe a little bit dimmer than the power light, and certainly dimmer than when it was constantly at full blast, but TBH I prefer it this way.

I opted to mod the adapter itself instead of the IDE cable. The yellow arrow marks where I cut the PCB trace, the cut itself is hardly visible in the picture.

A quick, easy and clean mod IMHO.

10k resistor no work so good
does not turn off completely HDD LED
I try to use some bigger maybe 20k or more
Test leater on A1200

22k work very good witch amiga 1200

Just wanted to chime in to say thanks this is the route I took much cleaner I think on the PCB itself using a 22k resistor and it works great!
