interesting... I don't know if I need it so it's puzzling I mean I already have a kicka$$ 3.9 installation with patches etc thanks to mfilos I wonder if the new release will make it even better

There is no new features, basically just exists so hype can undercut cloanto's sales of 3.1 OS.

Edit: tell a lie, there is exactly one new feature, ED is very fancy now with lots of menus. However the advertised fancy new icons aren't there. Basically save your money if you already have 3.1 or above.

if I have 1 of each A500/600/2000, A3000, a1200, and so on, I need to buy one of each? Different for each system?

Yep. They've made the softkick rom extremely machine specific. For rom images you burn to chips it makes sense, but doing it to a boot time patch they're just being huge bawbags.

As I said don't bother, main advertised features is extremely obscure bugfixes. If you get a full moon on the longest night of the year and dance naked in the forest your amiga won't crash anymore. That's basically it.

KBQ, that is simply not true.
E.g. you can now off the shelf manage HDDs > 4GB.

Is that an "extremely obscure bugfix"?

I consider it an awesome release that will help me make my retro experience a lot more hassle-free.

Agree, also off the shelf 060 support and other features and bug-fixes are interesting

As far as I understand the ROM version should be available soon, too bad you have to pay per Amiga model...

For what you're getting I think the price is way too high there is just no need to sell each rom version seperately. I would expect to pay £25-30 for a physical version of what they are offering but in digital form I expect all of the roms for that price as getting them for all the models of Amiga I have would cost more than Windows 10 does. Considering just about all of the bug fixes can be achieved with free patches where is the value?

Agreed 100%. They don't even have full release notes, so much of this "we've updated so many things!" is also taken on faith. Like, what are the things, specifically, which have been updated?

But without a reasonable bulk purchase option at such high cost, I don't see the point.

It wasn't worth paying 30 euros for large drive support alone. Lets be really honest here, a machine where the best OS is 3.1 (vs 3.9) doesn't actually need more than 4GB. What am I going to do, store my entire music library on it so I can enjoy 128k Mp3s that use 90% CPU on my 030?

I did buy it. I don't like that I gave hyperion money, and I don't think this has any practical improvement. But I will support that they've blown the dust off of the codebase and I hope further improvements will come. If they don't, then I settle for my gut instinct that it's just them screwing with cloanto.

well, Cloanto is suing Hyperion (again) so I'd expect the prices to go up even more to cover those legal costs :P

(well, sued anyways...I don't see if there was any judgement or not...)

Where is your spirit of the Amiga? I bought all versions for my machines. Sure its a crazy amount of money, but I can tell you the install process with larger drives is better than ANY other version I have ever used. I like 3.1 over 3.9 anyway and this is just super clean and fast. It also allows you to boot the 060 adapters and the 3660 without having to use hacked ROMs any longer. All support for fast CPUs is not built in. Its fantastic.

Installing large drives is is easy once you know what to do and there are enough guides explaining how to do it on forums and youtube. No matter how it's put this is not good value for money if you have multiple machines.

I like that they have updated the operating system but having to pay for more or less each model of Amiga is over the top, this should just be an option at the start of the install process

What Amiga do you have please select from the following etc etc

Not pay xx for each machine!! It’s an expensive enough hobby has it is

yeah I was also expecting some discount if you bought several versions at once but nope!

It seems another snatch-business by them; not surprised though.
