Adapter received last week, will test during the weekend...

Buffered adapter + VLR works fine with my Dell P2222H, but the vertical bars are still there...

Adapter arrived, works great - much improved (not quite completely removed) vertical bars compared with regular buffered adapter (using Dell 2410F), and no noticeable reduction in image quality otherwise.
