Enterprise was one of the better series imo, probably second to DS9. It went before it's time and the last episode should not be watched as the last episode just randomly watch it well before then, the second to last episode should be considered the final one.

TV series in order of preference: DS9 (long running story arc's, reoccurring plots that come back after long breaks and interesting characters not to mention familiar faces from TNG), Enterprise, TNG, Voyager (it was just TNG rehashed if you ask me with Borg) and then the originals (they were good when I was a kid but they are just borderline unwatchable now compared to any scifi since). I've never watched the animated series.

John Luke.

That's "Jean-Luc" ! :)

have you tried the audiobooks by Shanter? i thought they were very good, they take place after Generations:)

I am a big fan of TNG and have seen all the episodes multiple times.

Never really got into any of the other series, although I tried them all. Somehow they never got me interested to watch for more than a few episodes, maybe half a season to a season max.

If any, TOS is kinda okay, but I am not that familiar with it.

When it's Star Trek time for me, it's usually TNG episodes + movies 7-10, sometimes adding the first 6 movies + the 11th movies.

Another trekkie present here :-D

For me the best of them all is Voyager, why ?
First of all Jeri Ryan, Seven Of Nine, you just can't look past her :-D

I also like the story line going from rouge maquis coming on Voyager to their encounter with the Borg.
Also the idea of transwarp was pretty good, the show focusus more on the journey than the talk which you can see in DS9 and Enterprise.

A good second would be The Next Generation, also more focused on the journey, the only thing I dind't like was the Q story line, that didn't add anything to it and was annoying anyway.

3rd is DS9, it's more talk than journey, but hey, it has good moments.

4th comes Enterprise, of course for Jolene Blalock aka T'Pol :-D
I like the story line, but it just hasn't got the good action.

Last comes the old Star Trek, it's nice to see the start of it all, but it's just too old.

As per movies Generations and First Contact are the best, then Insurrection and then Nemesis.

<-------------- Trekkie :)

For me it was TNG then Voyager was best, Voyager improves greatly after the first series and is well worth a watch ( several times in my case).

I liked most of the Star Trek shows...
The only one I didn't get into as much was DS9. It was good and had moments I really liked, but on the whole, something about it didn't grab me.
Maybe it was the fact that they didn't go anywhere.. ;-)

I liked what they did with Enterprise. Different, but I liked it...

Oh God, I can't agree with that at all. Generations was horribly average, and felt more like an episode of the show than a film. They had just finished the last episode of season seven and were exhausted, and you can see that in them. There were also serious logic issues, like the Enterprise not being able to shoot down a rocket-based missile that heads towards the sun - Picard watches it launch and it's a typical missile that any one could shoot with a rifle if they so wanted! They destroyed the Enterprise for no bloody reason other than they needed some big action spectacle, and were so cheap that they re-used the special effects shot of the Bird of Prey being destroyed from the Undiscovered Country. Blargh.

First Contact had great action, but suffered from the same thing that all the subsequent films suffered from - Picard being the complete antithesis to what he was in the show. Picard is not an action hero, he is a contemplative and quiet man, a philosopher who would prefer to talk things through. It's what made his character work, that he was so different to Kirk (who shot everything he saw) yet got the job done. He made you think. Not so in the films.

Insurrection I didn't think was as bad as people say, I quite like it to be honest. Patrick Stewart and Rick Berman were to blame for that one, if anyone here didn't like it. Nemesis was really disappointing - again, not as bad for me as for others, but very average. They should have let Frakes direct that one instead of bringing someone in who'd never worked with Trek before and clearly had no idea what the series was all about. Shinzon was them basically trying to do Khan again, and while Hardy did a good job he didn't have much to work with. Data's death was badly handled and overall a sad end for the TNG crew who really deserved a better send-off.

Unfortunately none of the TNG films approach the best of the TOS films, being Wrath of Khan, Undiscovered Country and The Voyage Home respectively, at least in my opinion.

Can't agree with this either, I'm afraid! Good-looking women are fine, but I'd prefer that Star Trek engages my brain! ;)

I've seen some of the newer movies (TNG era) and watched a few episodes of Deep Space Nine but never quite caught on to the whole thing. Maybe I'm more of a Babylon 5 fan.

I'm mostly for the original TV series and Star Trek movies up to VI.. :)

Actually, there are some episodes in which Picard shows itself quite an impressive commando. For instance, the one where some terrorists take over the ship during a tachyon cleaning while the Enterprise is empty.

The movies are all very average in general and not as good as the series.
However, the Wrath of Khan is good, the Voyage Home is very funny, and First contact is probably the best in my opinion.
Star Trek V and Insurrection are really really poor.

Star Trek XI from 2009 stands apart for me: not consistent with the canon, but JJ Abrams has made a very good SciFi movie for everyone and has succeeded in talking to the real fans with some nice details.

As for the sexy characters some people mentionned, did i say i like Kira Nerys very much? This bajoran is so hot :)

That is true, it's just that there's a marked difference between Picard in the shows and Picard in the films. They went with the Borg making him angry bit which had already been done - and better - in the show. I'm sure anyone in his situation would have been upset if they had to deal with the Borg again like he did, but they took it a little too far.

i like star trek, but sort of went of it a bit with ds9.and really liked voyager the only real bugbear for me is all the aliens are humanoid.....

but then again i like alot of sci-fi inluding stargate.......

DS9 was the only Star Trek I was not to thrilled about...

Now Enterprise was real fun to watch you could see were the rules they
follow came from..

:coffee:

LOL! Goes to show everyone has very different tastes, even when it comes to Trek. My favorite was DS9, followed by Voyager, TNG, the Original Series then Enterprise. :)

My dad has always loved Star Trek, in all forms, and as a kid it was the only thing if he was watching we had to be quiet so i never really took to it.

Now grown up I wouldn't say I'm a fan of any of them but if they are on I don't mind them and will watch.

Of the lot I find Kirk's series to be very funny with the bad graphics and acting, Picard is ok but I don't quite understand the Q guy who seems to turn up a lot but then again I would if I watched them.

Voyager I really don't mind at all and have seen a few when they've been on tv.

I never really liked DS9 from what I saw of it. Never seen Enterprise and the only movie I have seen is one of Kirk's where they have to get some whales from earth or something along those lines. Think it might be The Voyage Home.

Q is an omnipitant being, who thinks hes superior, a god like being of which there are an entire race. They don't normally interfere but he's a bit of a rogue of his species... He judges humanity and Picard sets him straight numerous times, he then develops curiosity with the human race...

He turns up in Voyager too and Janeway has to deal with him .

Very well played by John DeLancie, too.

Yeah, the line is drawn HERE!

Yeah, heh. Great bit of acting from Stewart. It's just a shame they were going over a storyline that had already been resolved in an earlier episode, where he went home and his brother Robert kept prodding him until he broke down.
