Anyone got a clue what's going on with this power supply?

Basically I got this with an A600, it works but I have no idea wtf is going on with it. Any ideas? bare in mind I am hopeless with electronics so talk to me in English please :)

Ideally I would like to ditch one of the bricks, the brick that is attached to the main one has an on off switch but it is not connected to anything so is basically a dummy switch.

it looks like its wired to turn two supplys on at once?

not sure what the other one is though, have you measure the voltages on the output of the second one when its on?
you can remove it,its no big deal...

remove the live wire and neutral from the first transformer that leds to the second one and the coiled cable and its back to normal,or should be...

the one with the real switch looks like the main one.not actually sure what the other one is for...

Like I said, clueless when it comes to electronic and no gear. When i asked the guy I got it off he failed to shed any light as to why it was there as well.

So any way, does it look fine to simply go in with some wire cutters and chop off the extra one?

yes mate, just chop the extra wires off as close as you can mate it wont hurt it.

im only worried as to wether it works or not,but then again its not switchmode so it should be fairly robust.

Well that didn't go to well, performed the surgery and now it doesn't function :) (Just as well I have another PSU to use)

did it work before?

EDIT: wait a sec,i think some parts are missing from the supply on the right.i think the other one was to feed power into the first one after the missing parts.thats a really odd bodge...

Yes it worked beforehand, the cases are manky and it looks tired (could be cleaned up i suppose) but it did work until I chopped it off.
