Hello everyone, I know I haven't been on here in a long time, but I broke my old pentium system
oh:
icard. Shame really as it was a Tyan Tomcat with dual CPU sockets. For some reason it hangs on post when it comes to checking the memory. I don't really know what happened. I was changing out the hard drive for a quieter model and it just stopped posting, with the screen lightly flickering while it sits there. So I am in need of replacing the motherboard. The case I have is an AT case and as such I will need an AT motherboard. I would prefer the system to use EDO RAM as that is what I have, but if SDRAM is the only socket available then I would need to purchase some RAM as well. It needs to have PCI and ISA, I know some Socket 7 motherboards support AGP but I don't know if my voodoo 3 3500 would work in it. I know this is just for playing old games, but there are a raft of games from 1995 or so to 1998 or so that run best in windows 95/98 (Eugh...) and on a slower machine like this that I would like to go back and play. I understand if no one has anything but I thought I would look here before perusing any of the auction sites as I trust this community much more than those other sites. I can also trade if I have something that someone else is interested in. Due to my health I've been trying to whittle down my hardware collection so I might have something there. But if anyone has something matching what I would like to purchase/trade for, please let me know here in the thread. Any assistance is greatly appreciated.
Kind Regards,
Nathan
-UPDATE- I fixed the motherboard as described below. I would still be interested in a MMX processor though so I have updated the name of the thread to reflect this while leaving the information originally in the thread intact. Thank you to everyone who had motherboards that were able and willing to assist. I very much appreciate it. As far as I can tell, the Tyan Tomcat IIID motherboard only supports up to 200MMX so that will be the chip I am looking for then.
Kind Regards,
Nathan
