I now found the time to start with this fine kickstart switcher. Only to discover that I received a NTSC version in stead of the PAL version I ordered?

Please investigate. Thanks.

Hi,

You have ordered V2 PAL version and it's exactly what you have received.
If you had read the informations from the first post of the thread, you might see the following lines:

------------------------------------------------------
- NTSC (standard) version: 15€
- PAL version 1 (with ribbon PCB adapter): 20€
- PAL version 2 (with standard version + 28 pins socket): 15.50€
------------------------------------------------------

The V2 PAL version is the same as the NTSC version but here you have a 28 pins socket to solder onto the motherboard of your A1000.
In your picture, we can see the adapter + the 28 pins socket which is the V2 PAL kit.

The V1 PAL version is little bit different with a ribbon adapter. Picture below:

If you are not happy with your V2 PAL version of the Kickstart Switcher, no problem, you can send it back to me. I'll refund your money.

Kind regards.

Does the received version fit on my A1000? It does not have a piggy back. (Although I might have an A1000 with piggy back too. Must lookup.)

Yes, no problem. In the thread, I speak about PAL and NTSC version of the Switcher because there is a PAL and a NTSC A1000. But the logic is the same for the two versions of the Switcher.
Moreover, When I test a V1 PAL version before to send it, I plug it onto my NTSC A1000 (because its case is opened!) with sockets adaptors.

The Switcher has no influence onto the video logic of the A1000. If the motherboard of the NTSC and PAL version had the same design, only one version of the switcher would be needed!

I don't yet see how to fit the kickstart switcher on this board:

You have to solder the 28 pins socket onto the UR5 EVEN 2ND place. And after the Switcher will be plugged into U5R EVEN 2ND and U5S.
I have a little doubt. Did I send to you the installation manual (PDF file). Please, if no, PM me an email, I'll send it quickly.

Yes, you sent me the manual. But it only contains pictures of the piggy back version.
Plugging the switcher into U5R EVEN 2ND and U5S means: removing the current chip out of U5S? If so: does the floppy fit after that?

Yes, you'll have to remove the U5S chip, and yes, the floppy can be fitted at its place!
I don't think you have the last version of the manual. Send me your email again please.

There are some differences. The most important one is that the two sockets where the switcher is plugged are not at the same place onto the motherboard.

First post update with pictures of new ribbon version & 2015 shipping costs.
