Just a quick update. I mentioned (not sure if it was here or elsewhere) that I could play PAL games on my NTSC Amiga with the 2 adapters, but I had to do a bit of a dance.
Get the svideo-vga adapter into PAL, then reboot the Amiga into PAL, etc..
Otherwise, I had a PAL b/w image..

Well, that's wrong. :-)

I was doing that yesterday, and used whdload to load a game on my Amiga which was running in NTSC. So, I added the PAL option to the icon for the whdload game, and it came up in PAL, but b/w. As usual.

Then I looked at my amigamaniac svideo adapter and thought about the jumper for "tuning". So I took a handy needle nose pliers (not recommended btw) and jumpererd it, and the picture flickered a bit, and there was color!! Hmmm..

Used a real jumper (which is provided) and it was working!

Now, there were a few sparklies/lines etc infrequently (when popping into/out of PAL sometimes), so I picked a time when there were sparklies, and grabbed a tiny screwdriver and started turning the adjuster on the adapter and got a stable picture.

Now, I can pop into and out of PAL/NTSC and just use the switch on the adapter to get my color back!

Just a heads up.

Hi

What range of output resolutions & refresh rates does this device support?

I'm worried about lack of support for 50Hz (lots of LCD monitors dont support it as well) but doing 50Hz->60Hz can have side-effects, like non-smooth motion.

On the page for the other unit (the slightly cheaper one) there is a remark from a user:
"This device does not work properly with devices that output progressive scan pictures. I mean that if both half frames have same timing the output picture quality is very bad. This makes the device useless for connecting most 8bit/16bit gameconsoles and computers."

Thanx!
