they are knobs and act like idiots on purpose and that does spoil it sometimes. However , watching them pass every challenge would be boring too. A happy medium would of been better.

the show was basically - Jeremy clarkson and his two mates.

Guys,
Don't you think that the whole show is basically about an overblown ego who does what he wants while some other sycophant little boys show the general public some really bad habits to do behind the wheel?
Maybe I'm missing something but I'd sooner switch me Oric on.
Keep it safe, keep it simple!

I think Stig should host the show himself.
I think the Stig should reveal himself now, obviously that gimmick is over as this is the end of Top Gear as it was and it might give the BBC the hump :) He'll probably go with Clarkson and co to ITV or Sky any way but the BBC probably have the character copyrighted so they won't be able to use it.

i think stig is tiff needell.

i hear a rumour that they want borris johnson to replace clarkson.
And to be honest i do like the blithering idiot. but he is a different type of blithering idiot compared to clarkson.
kind of reminds me of the "WINNING!" charlie sheen 2 and 1/2 men incident to be honest.
i guess all i can say about that is charlie sheen is still working, and 2 and 1/2 men is now gone..
so i suppose winning is right.
Still shouldnt have been violence involved. and id imagine he is contemplating retirement now any way. so lets see how it pans out. I just cant see any one replacing him, hammond i could replace, even james may. but clarkson is to much of a personality to replace.
unless..

I know!
BRIAN BLESSED!
there we go fixed it.
top gear IS ALIVE!

The funny thing is, the Stig character is used in Top Gear USA, Top Gear Korea, and assumedly all the other Top Gear regional spinoffs.

I just wanna see an entire episode hosted by a guy in a white suit and helmet staring blankly around a live audience and not saying a word.

you gotta remember Clarkson has been offered HUGE amounts of money in the past to move from the BBC, he doesn't need the money, he's already a multi millionaire, he does it for the fun of it, I'm pretty sure if Sky ot ITV offered him a silly amount of money he would turn them down or do it for free to steal the ratings from the BBC, he simply doesnt need to work, it was fun for him to be paid to blow stuff up and drive fast.

They should have sorted it in-house and they'd still have their huge cash making machine.
He had too many enemies ,me thinks.
If they start a new show on another channel ,they'll have to be careful not to imitate the style of Top Gear too much or the lawyers will get involved.

It will be difficult to to have a show similar to Top Gear as copyright covers a lot of things, not just the obvious.

What's the deal with that guy driving miles and miles to an A&E ?
It's like he was thinking ahead .

To be fair, the BBC could not have handled it any differently, whether they wanted to or not. They had to take action on it, and shoot themselves in the proverbial foot.

I honestly can't see Top Gear without any of them - not Clarkson, not May, and not Hammond. It's the dynamic that makes it fun :)

While I don't approve Clarkson's behavior, it is sad to see the team leave the show.

It would probably make more sense for Clarkson, Hammond and May to start their own production company and sell their own produced series to the networks instead of signing directly in to some network.

As for substitute cast for TG: Rowan Atkinson, Stephen Fry and Michael Gambon.

I think we should be honest and say here we have three old codgers having fun and now their a busted flush, , I imagine they will all of them turn up on ITV, and that's going to end badly I mean are they going to open the show with `The Professionals` theme score ? )

I agree entirely, I really don't see how they could have done anything else despite the fact it will probably cost them dearly, which they knew.

I only started watching this show couple of years ago... Some antics were fun to watch, earlier episodes did give some informative about cars but overall the show was just predictable with every challenge being completely rooted and leaving me with a bad aftertaste.
Besides, why would I want to support a show where a rude middle aged dude thinks he's king sh!t..?
I mean how many times can you hear over and over from him that vouxhall cars are crap?

That's my opinion, feeling and 2 groszy worth ;)

But Vauxhall and anything from General Motors is crap... He was just reporting a fact!

Regarding top gear, this series was very cringeable. Some of the episodes were just not funny. The most pathetic had to be the Peugeot one.

I really think they had run out of ideas and it was approaching the end anyway.

In contrast their recent perfect road trip 2 direct to DVD was worth watching as they actually discussed cars and their technical aspects. Worth watching.

Will they go to another channel? Just heard that Sky offered them a lot but had to back out for legal reasons because it was too much risk from their legal departments POV.

You don't want to say that to an Aussie, sport. Very passionate about their Holden's they are and that there be fighting words! You're either a Ford or a Holden (which is a subsidiary of GM) man.

I'm not surprised with the outcome. After all, Clarkson was on his fourth or fifth final warning. :)

But I hate to see it go, tired format or not (besides, they've got a ways to catch Dr. Who when it comes to recycling. :) )
