Nah mate, they all sh!t, GM, ford or any at that matter but how many times can you hear it over and over... I'm a car enthusiast but the show had run its course and it was just like a badly wounded hyena, loud, obnoxious and really really ugly. ;)
In the end, they are all very very rich and most likely didn't even flinch...

Does this mean I can cancel my TV license now? Need it to pay for Prime.

I'm being serious when I say that TG was the only show I watched on the BBC. I listen to Planet Rock in the car and couldn't care less if the BBC stations suddenly disappeared.

There's been no need to buy a TV for years. Just don't bother, if someone knocks at the door and asks if you own a TV politely tell him where to go and shut the door on them, they can't do a thing. They have no powers to enter your property to check if you have need a license or not without a warrant. If someone knocks and asks if you are Mr whoever, always reply with who are you? and do not acknowledge your identity until they have identified themselves, if they are from TV licensing just shut the door on them.

Google the subject there's lots of advice on it.

as much as I liked Top Gear, I doubt very much I will subscribe to Amazon just for them,,,

Who's betting after the release of each episode for their new Amazon series the downloads appear "elsewhere". So there won't be any need to subscribe. ;)

as much as I can't condone avoiding paying taxes ;-) , agreed, TV licence is unenforceable.

I'm in Australia, I cannot subscribe to Amazon Prime. No 2 day shipping, no video streaming service.
So if I want to watch this new show, I have to five finger discount it.

Nice work Clarkson and co, you've chosen the one streaming service that doesn't have a presence in half the countries that watch top gear, it's also the most expensive.

Indeed, they should have gone with Netflix, although I bet it was the money that convinced them.

Saying that, any streaming service is a winner for a globally popular show compared to a terrestrial broadcast. So much of Top Gears revenue was from post broadcast DVD and over seas licensing to broadcast. Now, those whom can get Amazon Prime can access the program at the same time. Streaming broadcasts are the future in this regard, but now with the current global network/broadband infrastructure.

BTW, I didn't know you couldn't get Prime in Australia. Seems a huge market to not tap into yet.

I think most people will have that well known discount for it (I know I will lol). But Amazon will sell it to TV stations just as the BBC did, the deal is they have worldwide distribution rights on it so they use it to promote Prime first, then sell it to everywhere else to make the money back. I've been saying for years Youtube should bid for sports rights etc, netflix and prime are starting to lead the way now. Give it another 10 or 20 year and the Sky/Virgin business model will be on it's knees, they must be worried about falling behind.
