User named rdstudio just posted this on PPA.pl

Some time ago he bought an Amiga package on Allegro.pl, and this construction was hidden in there.

Apparently the constructor had his own vision of a joy stick... MacGyver is an Amiga gamer? :wooha:

that is some hardcore stuff right there.... it certainly worths it's price, not for the joystick itself but for the vision of the maker....

Sorry Juvee, I'm afraid that's the only model in the whole wide world ;)

LoL, great business plan to make this model.

And it can be packed as DIY kit too for lowered price.

...so it is valuable. you just can't put a price on that!

@skorbut: yeah, 50cm x 6 thin cables, a wooden plate 10cm x 5cm x 1cm with a hole in the middle, one 7cm screw, 4 x small screws and 4 of those metal pieces to contact with the directions.

Oh, and a fire button.

Hah, reminds me of the first computer "switchbox" joysticks invented for Spacewar! - wish I could find a better picture, but here's the diagram:

Gotta love what people made when they didn't have access to or couldn't afford a prefab version ;)

OMG, it looks so, so... cr*p...

Really vintage looking...

I love that - that's what hacking is all about.
Sure you might be able to get something somewhere, but the real joy is improvising with the materials available to hand :)

 from me!

@chiark: Exactly. :)
It's not about the looks, but how it was build and that it works.
Probably holds a decent amount of nostalgia, too.

Teatnus StuntCar Racer!

Nice ring to it dontya think?

Thanks for shareing shoona
that is one hard core joystick, Industrial springs to mind

Love it I Ribbiting do, Proper DIY :D

This thing just screams "Steampunk".

I love it, though it would look better with brass parts and just one color of cables instead of this rainbow thing...

exactly. It's made me wonder about making something like it...

When I first saw it, it reminded me of a victorian morse key

That'd be a great project...

@ Shoonay

Is that joystick analog or digital....??

That's actually pretty cool. Yeah it looks like crap but hey, how many of us have created our own joysticks? I wonder if I could make an amiga joystick from arcade control components.....

-edit- No, seriously, has anyone else here made a joystick? I want to see them if so, actually..... I have an idea for a thread.

Ooh, now there's an idea! I could make a wood-base stick to go with the wood-encased machine I wanna build. Love that ultra-oldschool wood-grain finish ;)
