Hi!

I want to flash my CSPPC to test with the GREX which involves booting without startup sequence to use the flash tool.

I was able to complete the procedure on my CSMkIII without issue but with the CSPPC when I pick 'boot without SS' from the early boot menu it takes me to the Kickstart splash screen instead of a command prompt as expected.

I'm a bit stumped to be honest :sos

Any help appreciated!

ps. I double checked the CSPPC config menu and 'Maprom' isn't enabled...

Just tried another floppy drive and it does the same thing (just in case that was the issue) :coffee:

You still need a bootable volume, even if there's no SS. Do you have something bootable in there?

Hey Steve,

I don't know if this would work but could you make a bootable floppy without an OS on it to give you an initial prompt and then switch to your flash tool?

regards,
Ed.

Andy is right on this one.
Just make a bootable disk with the required files on it and just boot without ss :)

Thanks guys, I put a CF on the IDE and disabled it at Startup, got the prompt this time and CSPPC is flashed

Hi Steve,

I've flashed my CSPP's few times to test different firmware revisions. All times I used a bootable FDD with the FashUpdate inside.

Just to comment... all times I needed to use the /FORCE option. Without that, the update don't work for me.

Also try to flash without the GREX, after the update you can install the GREX again.

I hope this help :)

All the best

Hi Steve

Too late from my side, my friend :picard

Sorry :picard

Hi Pablo, no worries my friend. I didn't need to Force, both times flash ok :)

Did you remember to disable the SCSI (holding S on startup?) BTW I didn't have GREX connected, just CSPPC & FDD, not even a daughter board!

Hi Steve,

Yes, I have tried everything, but no way...... Only with the FORCE option works fine on both CSPPC's (one untouched, the other upgraded).

Glad to "see" your CSPPC is updated now

My best wishes as allways :)
