Top Gun has just a little too much male bonding in it for my tastes; I thought you might be more of an Iron Eagle type....

Here's Top Gun Recut..... as a love story...

If you tried to land an F-16 on a carrier, the landing gear would snap off, it's just not strong enough for the loading of that sort of landing. The usual carrier fighter was the McDonnell Douglas F-18 Hornet, not the General Dynamics F-16 Fighting Falcon.

Here's a Hellenic Air Force F-16.... some pr0n for Vasilios....

Merl, i am pretty aware of which aircraft is suited for carriers, and the F-16 is not one of them. However, being a Navy retired, i have a soft spot for Naval aviation..

Nice pic there! Did you know that the US Navy actually bases F-16s at 5 stations? http://www.f-16.net/units_airforce166.html
I happen to have some pics taken when dropping by Miramar, i think i should dig 'em out, surely they'll be of some interest! :)

/Merlin runs off, before Salaxi54 gets a chance to tell him where that soft spot might be located..... :wooha:

You could be right but judging by the cover... there's just too much meat in Iron Eagle.

I hope you enjoy them!

At least Iron Eagle had F-16s in it, which is more than I can say for Top Gun.

F-14s and Northrop T-38 Talons were in Top Gun. I had to laugh at the Talons painted black, with red stars on them - they were supposed to be the bad guys

Edit: AV-8B Harrier, A-4 Skyhawk, E-2C Hawkeye and the small one with the contrail could be an F-16.

Lol, nice US-made MIGs! hehe Yup, that's the same F-16 that's on the ground.

Hah! It was hilarious back in the cold war. I remember seeing the Iron Eagle 2, which had F-4 Phantoms as Mig-29's. In fact, the first movie I remember having real Russian fighters, was 007: Goldeneye.

Come this autumn, i believe at least i'll be having a new office chair!
This is as far as i got on the ejection seat till now, but moving along quite fast.. :)

Now, remember, these are pieces i cut from scrap wood i had, so cost was actually nill. The inner skeleton is not actually in place, you'd have to imagine it lifted a few centimeters up. Lots more to be cut.. :picard

Your mad wood working skillz continue to impress!

Thanks mate, i would've been faster if parameter = 'real life' wasn't in the way... But i promised myself when starting this, that i wouldn't let a day go by without doing even the tiniest of additions, be it cut, glue, sand, paint, or just plain ol' reading plans! :)

Yeah I know the feeling, Funding and Real Life (including very cute 15 month old Daughter) are slowing down my 500+ restoration/enhancement project too. :p

I'm slowly buying and restoring all my old fav computers from the 80's/90's - I have the C64 & A500+ but would love to add an Apple ][e, Mac ][, Amstrad CPC6128, Tandy 1000ex and a Mac Classic to the collection! (im totally dreaming according to my wife!) :D

Today's updates involve the seat belt rollers.
Luckilly, this 'steam-punk' mechanism will not be visible, so i didn't need to worry about looks. As long as it's efficient! :)

Haven't had much free time this Sunday, but managed to add a few bits.
