Hello :)

My Amiga 4000D (installed MKI 68060, without extra ram and SCSI card) starts with the nag screen "cannot open scsi.device unit 1". After reboot the message is gone and the CDRom can be used. IDEfix is installed. Background: The HDD in the A4000 is cloned from my A1200 with installed OS3.1, 68060.library. I deinstalled the old PCMCIA tool - could this cause this trouble? Please give me an advice solve this problem.

welcome to amibay ;-)

you probably installed IDEfix on your A1200.

try reinstalling it on your A4000 (or reconfigure it).

it looks for unit1 which you had on your A1200 but you don't on your A4000.

cheers

Thanks for your prompt reply! :)

I already uninstalled IDEfix and installed it again, but the problem was not solved. Strangely the nag screen only appears after switch on the A4000 after rebooting again it is gone - would this case if it is still searching for an no longer installed cd-drive? How can I tell the A4000 that this 2nd drive is no longer installed?

if it isn't there at a softboot, it can be because the CD drive spins up too slow. if there is a Cd in the drive remove it and try a cold boot.

if you run setup again without uninstalling it, you should have some features of configuring your CD options. or the CD options are located in the IDEfix folder, I don't remember.

cheers

@Tomse: I cold boot the machine without a CD, but the nag screen still occurs during cold booting, before the Workbench is up. The booting process itself seems to take a lot of time

@merlinkv: Good idea, how can I transfer the file or have I manually have to transcribe everything?

@kai

I don't know if you have a way to transfer files to PC or maybe from Amiga.... Then, just copy & paste :thumbsup:

That is the problem - I don't have a possibility to transfer the file from the Amiga to my PC. I will manually transcribe - takes some time :oops:
