I recently came into possession of an CD32 via ebay. It's in good condition in terms of the case, the CD drive works flawlessly, display is fine via Scart ,no sign of rust etc and I've been putting it through its paces with multiple games. During this I noticed an audio problem that I can only describe as one (or more) channels seems very quiet. This is more noticeable in some games/music than others.

I can across the Amiga Test Kit software and tested the audio and discovered channel 0 is much quieter than the other 3 when doing the music test. This supports what I had noticed during my testing.

The seller described the system as fully recapped. I took off the top cover (but didn't remove the shielding), from what I could see the caps that were visible were OK, there were no strange smells of dusty odour and no signs of corrosion from the limited visibility I had. I didn't feel brave enough to take the shielding off as I've had prior experience to breaking things or not being able to put stuff back together afterwards and didn't want to tempt fate :)

I wanted to ask about the range of possible causes of this particular issue and if anyone else has experienced similar?

I also wanted to know if anyone on here who is UK based can fix issues such as this?

(FYI, CD32 has been tested with both a TF330 and TF360 and a new power supply is on order)

Was the cause found? I would guess it could be one of capacitors or a bad opamp.

After I had finished . All done .

I am just lucky that their were no breaks in the track at all .

Glad you got it sorted, but this is why I will never buy a recapped anything again. I bought two CD32s both with crap recapping jobs, done by incompetent morons.
The vast majority of people doing recapping are simply incompetent, even the so-called "pros". They watch YouTube videos and think they're an expert when they're not. After that I bought 4 specifically not recapped so I could do it properly myself.

One of the ones I bought was so damaged I had the custom parts transferred to a reCD32 with new passives.
