CD32 Power supply recommendations?

I think the expansion cards have pushed my original psu to its limits. I found a couple online but they don't state the watts.

The original one I have is 17 watts and slightly longer than other original ones I have seen in photos.

Does anyone have a 'stronger' one they can recommend?

i mailed amigastore.eu about this, they helpfully replied they do have 1 but isnt on the website yet, but he has added it to the drop down section box.

find the new psu's for a500/600/1200 , and in the boxs to the side u now have the option of a CD32 with uk plug option,in white or black its 55w and 5v 4.0a i think, havnt ordered yet as its a bit steep , around £60 , but i will be getting 1 at some point.

Alternative would be TFX PSU 300W (I found used ones on sale for 10E ) and simple adapter from ATX to Amiga connector, or even better removal of ATX connector and soldering cables directly to PSU. CD32 power plugs are available in electronic stores as "DIN4" plugs for 1E or 2E. And power switch. If want to hide PSU, then also a black piece of 4line shielded or 5line non-schielded cable would be required for better esthetic experience ;-)
It's much chipper but requires some basic soldering skills.

CD32 is the easiest one, even Molex->din4 adapter would work. I made the Molex adapter myself.
(More difficult was CDTV. First I tried ATX->CDTV adapter, but ATX connector is big so for 2nd one I removed ATX connector and unused cables and just soldered required connectors.)

It's not much surplus power - only 10W more than genuine PSU. Nice looking and for some configurations should be sufficient.
For my Amigas I use SS-300TFX with adapter, it's cheaper and powerful - 300W but not perfect looking.

Big in power, small in size - might fit inside a standard Amiga PSU case and then you can brag about having a 750W PSU. Not that you need 62A on +12V, but don't tell that to anyone.

Good thing is that the CD32 doesn't need any negative or AC voltages, but just plain ol' 5V and 12V, so finding suitable parts to build your own should be relatively simple. I often find decent quality PSUs in local fleamarkets (the black wall warts) and if you're lucky you might find one that came from an external storage case which might supply both those voltages. Alternatively just find one for each voltage and transplant them both into one case. I know that there are several dead 1541-II PSUs out there, and since they use the same PSU connector and specs, it could be a good candidate for a transplant.

Lot cheaper than amigastore.eu psu anyway , might look into this 1 soon, altho it doesn't state the actual watts , where the original is 17w and amigastores is 55w.

As for Amiga the most important is watts on 5V and all modern PSU have many watts on 12V, I focus on 5V only. So the original PSU has 5V*2.2A=11W, the PSU from Belgium has 5V*4.2=21W on 5V, amigastore.eu PSU has 5V*4A=20W on 5V, TFX/SFX PSU mentioned earlier have about 5V*20A=100W on 5V.

Thankyou for the explanation ori1a ,I have never ever touched a soldering iron in my life lol,and not really comfortable messing about with extra adaptors and plugs in case i fry something, so my only choices are the ready made ones from Belgium and Amigastore , while not a huge increase,it is i think a worthwhile increase to ensure no problems with a few extras being connected , EG:TF330,CF card,mouse adaptors etc. as im sure they must be pushing the original PSU a little to much.

I purchased my first soldering iron few months ago and already recaped few my Amigas including CD32
I think my CD32 with TF330 and CF works ok with original PSU. I will have to check how close the limits is my PSU. Unfortunately I'm on medical leave now without access to my tools so you will have to wait week or more. Or maybe someone else could measure CD32 power consumption meantime.

the PSU from Belgium has 5V*4.2=21W on 5V

To update all, I received this PSU today.

CD32 with TF330, PS2 Keyboard and Optical Mouse, on for past 24hrs no issues. PSU is warm but not hot.

Rock solid I would say for the price.

Just waiting for them to actually post it

Looking forward to trying it out, and i can keep my original psu as a spare or sell it and recoup most of the cost of the new 1
I have virtually the same spec as yourself so hopefully it will be fine,doesnt hurt to have a little extra power, and who knows what new accessories may be released in the future that we need to power.

They sent a kettle lead with it, but a euro plug. I used an old one from a ps2

since replying to you and saying who knows what may come out in the future, ive found out that the TF360 is in development for the CD32 , 68060 cpu with 256mb ram ,wow wether ill get 1 is another matter but i wasn't expecting that
