We have reached 1 million posts on AmiBay! It has been a long journey, and we've come a long way from very humble beginnings but have kept to our mission of being a safe and fun place for everyone. We would love to have you leave your comments about how things have changed (or maybe not!) and what AmiBay has come to mean to you.

To help celebrate this milestone, we have a special message from someone else who was on a very long journey.. The Doctor from Star Trek: Voyager (Robert Picardo):

I stumbled onto Amibay about 14y ago when I found my old A1200, dusted it off, then suddenly guess what? I had a fever, and the only prescription was more Amiga.

"Just" wanted to buy an A4000. Fast forward about 5y and I had nine A4000's in various states. Then more, then A500s, and A4000T's and A600's and and... Started repairing and refurbishing them. I even got a job (I think) at one point due to the experience I built up due to the hobby. Then found a giant Amiga hw stock in a basement. Then started making RAM modules. Then building accelerators. Then building whole motherboards. Then...? Then COVID hit (and life along with it) and I sold almost everything.

It's been a looooong journey but at the same time all too short as well. No regrets.

And all the while, Amibay was always an anchor, in good times and bad. And all the people. The old crew. And the new who picked up the mantle a carried us on. Some are with us, some are not. Some just moved on quietly. Thank you to you all. But AmiBay is still here, the passion is still here, and we are still here.

So here is to you AmiBay!

P.S. Sorry @chucky you have to now share your beer with all the forum... ;)

Great this is (fixed my issue It was my computer)

Nice to see the EMH Robert Picardo for this occasion, and he's right, in my case there is a profound relation between Star Trek and the computers of old as my interest in both has started in the same era of early teenage, and then they crossed over the game Star Trek 25th anniversary. That particular game smells deep nostalgia for me but is starting to be a bit painfull when i see we are now reaching more like Star Trek 60th anniversary.
Anyway, time has flown fast, i have forgotten Amibay is so old. There are other Amiga boards which are even older but Amibay has strenghten the community by reuniting people to trade software, hardware and services in a courteous way.
Thanks to this my (retro)computing gear has now far exceeded the wildest dreams i could have in 80's/90's, Amiga or others, and thanks to excellent technicians like @hese 99% of it is now in excellent working shape. 2025 is better than 1995.

@comraider 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Nicely done getting Robert Picardo to do the video. Great touch. 👍🏻

To me Amibay was and shall be a place I always wanted to join. Since been on here I have made some great contacts and in some instances networked with the great people who provide assistance when you need it.
Although there has been some rough with the smooth (Whatever!). This has been the best welcoming forum I’ve been on for the retro computing enthusiasts.

Unlike other forums, this one has been a lot more down to earth (Excuse the ST pun 🤣😉 ). Less of the Sheldon Cooper types who make out you should know what you are doing and what the difference between 2 bits compliment and hexadecimal notation is. Just the back to basics if you need it or don’t. That’s down to the members. So no wonder the 1 million milestone.

The downside for me, is the empty wallet and bank account 😬😆 I never knew 75% of the new hardware you can obtain for the Amiga systems. Luckily this can be bought on here!

The amount of great projects and those who sell on here is Amazing! I really don’t get the people who join and either want to leave or find ways to be pushed out?

So here’s to another milestone.

Cheers from me 🍺🥂🍻

Which post is the 1000000th by the way?
That's tricky.. there are many deleted posts, some staff-only posts etc, so the total number of posts ever is higher than 1 million. But here's the post by @YouKnowWho that officially rang up the tally today to 1 million, and we'll go with that:

Thanks Doctor - FYI I've had some Apple computers already and none of them were better than an Amiga! Current ones go faster and have bigger screens but they still are not as much fun.

Doctoooor... nice to hear from you really, that was a great video. Thanks a lot. Hope he was not a hologram (but with the device later-on, he can move everywhere)...

See you soon in Star Trek: Starfleet Academy...🥂

The mobile emitter runs on AmigaOS using doctor.library :p

I'm old enough to remember buying stuff on the old AmiBench site back when the Internet was basically the Wild West haha. The web now generally is unrecognisable from back then. But the best part of Amibay isn't actually the buying and selling, it's the community of people that are here who help each other out with technical help, advice, and recommendations. THAT is what makes this site so good. Here's to the next million posts 🍻

Awesome transmission! So lovely to hear from the Doctor himself! Extremely nice of him to address us and kudos for mocking us, we thoroughly deserve it!

I love Star Trek, and he was probably my favourite Voyager character, and I love Amiga! What more can one ask??
