Just as the title suggests, has anyone tried to put these two together and if so what barriers and problems have you faced and what workarounds have you found?

Thank you in advance!

Havent tried that combo, but I have a rev 1D.4 in an Checkmate 1500 plus case with the A1200 backplate, and it works just fine.

Given that the A1200NG motherboard is supposed to fit without issues into an original A1200 case I think you'd mostly be fine.

It even has a floppy cable conector so you could even sort that out in the case.

Ref a product listing:
The A1200NG motherboard fits into original Commodore 1200, Escom 1200 and reproduction desktop cases. The ports align with the holes in the case using the supplied backplate.

Hey, thank you for the reply!
Yes absolutely, that has been my thinking too.

However, I'm concerned about the power supply since its different from a standard Amiga 1200, and I think the A1200NG comes with a power brick which I'd rather have an SFX power supply...

The other question is around the on/off button on the case - which in a way is also related to the above.

That are good points.

In my Checkmate case there's a impulse switch in the front and a board that adapts an SFX supply to A1200, then there's a small lead that loops out of the case and into the A1200.

How is the A1200NG powered?

It looks like a laptop / notebook charger 12V/3A adapter with an ugly on/off switch....

Then you at least can swap out the Checkmate momentary switch with a toggle switch, that should be doable

There's plenty of room inside the case for that brick, and some patching and you're there I think
