THE ULTIMATE PLA

Commodore c64 e c64SX replacement for PLA Programmable Logic Array - 906114-01, 251064-01 or 82S100

The problem:
A faultyPLA can cause: Blank screen, no border, colored screen or flashing color garbage instead of startup screen, intermittant loss of cursor, screen freeze and/or program crashes after warmup or random characters on screen.
The original chip 906114-01 runs very hot and is very poor reliable. This is the first cause of problems on Commodore 64.
Replacing the fault PLA with an original chip doesn't fix the problem definitely due to their poor reliability.

The solution:
This chip is based on a new technology programmable logic arrays chip that reproduce exactly the functionalities and the timing of the original PLA.

It's compatible with all the C64 breadbin and C64SX boards and with all C64 cartridges including, Epyx FastLoad, Super Zaxxon, 1541 Ultimate I and II

Please note that a replacement based on a generic eprom technology can cause instability problems and incompatibility with particular cartridges as Epyx FastLoad, Super Zaxxon, 1541 Ultimate I and II

It's the ultimate solution for PLA replacements:
- it runs cold
- low consumption ... very low dissipation ... also for the internal power supply
- it is reliable (it will never burn)

This chip reproduce completely the internal logic and the timing of the original PLA !!!

High quality item, manufactured with high quality PCB.
It's possible to insert directly in the PLA socket. Compatible with normal or turned sockets.

Tested and working !!
I ship worldwide with or without tracking number.

Price 15€
Shipping costs to Europe 2€ priority mail, 6€ registered mail. For other destinations please ask.
Payment via PayPal as a gift.
Several items available.
Advertised elsewhere.

Very nicely done, impressed you can still buy those Altera-chips.

So, if you got the timing right, what about the voltage level, the chip outputs the full voltage swing, right? The 82S100 has a bit lower voltage out than full VCC, so when using a device like this or for example the older 5V XC9536 you may get problems with some hardware relying on a lower voltage level such as timing using capacitors and so on.

IMHO calling it "Ultimate" seems like a bit of a stretch. ;-)
I'm sure it will work for most people/equipment, but I suspect it doesn't work on all machines and equipment that will work with the 82S100.

Very nicely done, much like the XC9536 presented by nightfallcrew.com in 2009 - but with an Altera instead.

Hi,
yes this is a real 5V device compliant with the TTL and CMOS technology used in our beloved commodore.
Until now has been tested on all the ASSY no. versions without any problem. Sold in several pieces all around the world without any issue.
I've also done a PLA version for the C16, C116 and plus/4 ... the one marked 251641-02 and also on these machines works like a charme.
