Packages are on the way to jap and 68k. Another three adapters have been sold outside Amibay in the meanwhile, so 22 now remain for sale :)

Received my adapter yesterday. Top quality, excellent work ajk!:thanks:

The led works strange however. When I connect the adapter to a PC, the led remains off. Shouldn't it turn on when connected? The led starts flashing when mini XUM is transfering data and after that the led remains on.

Hmm, it should. Does it otherwise work as expected? I suppose it could be some minor difference in the drivers, but I guess it doesn't really matter if there is no harm :) Looks like the latest W10 update has once again turned driver signature verification on so I can't test right now.

I tested the device again and it seems that I did something that confused the adapter/driver. Perhaps my powering order was 'wrong'.

When I let the PC boot floppy drive being off, the led was lit when the mini XUM driver started. I would have expected that the led turns on as soon as the adapter is powered, but no. It's a driver's status light and not a mini XUM power light.

I think I had earlier the floppy drive on before I started the PC. This may have caused that the led wasn't lit until some data was transferred first.

Anyway, the adapter worked and works fine despite the led odditity.

PM replied :)

BTW, the post office has changed their fees so I can now offer shipping at less than half the price! €2 for Europe and €3 worldwide.

@Damon1971, @Joostel

Your adapters are now in the mail. Usually takes about a week so with any luck you'll have them before next weekend :)

Hi! I'm declaring interest in 1 device and will PM now.
BTW - this device looks great! I've been wanting an easy way to back up my old C64 disks :)

It is great, as long as we're not talking originals (although there is a method to backup copy-protected discs using a 1571 drive).

- sorry for late answer (for your record: got my mini xum1541 on Friday, April 21th)...

i'm very happy with my new toy! it's a simple and inexpensive way to do backup of my old floppies. but, for those who doesn't have a commodore 1571 disk drive, you may be disappointed with the performance (read transfer speed, i.e. you will *not* get a 55 seconds backup copy of 683 blocks as showed in the video ad...). i realized that mini xum1541 probably utilize burst mode for the commodore 1571 disk drive before i bought it, so it wasn't a surprise for me... if you have a good old commodore 1541, 1541-II or 1541 clone, etc. you will get (maybe) two and a half minutes (see below) backup copy which i think is ok after all since it doesn't use burst mode.

my drive is a 1541 clone (oceanic oc-118n), but i think the numbers will be the same for the original as well since those disk drives can't manage burst mode.

also, i had to add the "-t original" option for the "d64copy" command to get 440 bytes/second copy, or the speedier "-t s1" option for the "d64copy" command to get 1200 bytes/second instead (no other options worked...). by default, "d64copy" tries to autodetect which "transfer protocol" to use, which didn't work with my disk drive (because it's a clone with jiffydos 5 installed, maybe...?).

i tried my mini xum1541 both in linux and windows 7. the device driver (VERSION 0.4.99.98, BETA STAGE! January 13th, 2016) for the mini xum1541 seem to work better in the windows 7 environment compared to linux (using libusb-dev version 2:0.1.12-30). for example, i had to re-plug the usb connector every time after the "d64copy" to be able to re-issue the "d64copy" for every new backup - this was not necessay in windows 7.

best wishes

I haven't timed it, but it doesn't take me >2 mins to copy a floppy using my adapter and a plain 1541-II drive. If you use original transfer mode with d64copy it takes that long but you can also use the faster modes with a 1541 (with autodetect I believe it uses either s1 or s2), although they are not as forgiving towards read errors. With bad floppies I sometimes need to use the slow original mode, but mostly it works fine with the speed mode.

Anyone tried to perform copies of nib or g64 files to real floppies with a 1571 and nibtools? My minixum works flawlessly, but I couldn't achieve that, I receive a driver error
