Hi all

finally managed to start work on my office/computer room build. will post progress pics here. open to suggestions to! hope some find it interesting.

room is 2m x 1.9m square, typical 1930''s box room.

new ceiling was first. wood chip now gone. then power. should be enough sockets. all on the ring main done properly - filler/plaster is a work in progress just to hold the sockets in place until the walls are stripped and re plastered.

You need more sockets. No matter how many you have, you'll always end up short, at least that's how it works for me.. :)

Network sockets? (as you are replastering anyway)
Any intention to wall mount any TVs / monitors? (more in the wall cabling)
Cant wait to see this as it progresses!

When i had a computer room, i had ten double wall sockets, so twenty in total, and most of those had quad socket strips plugged in. I actually had a separate ring just for that room (it was the electricians idea).

If You'll like to tinker with computer parts f.e. soldering, disassembling & cleaning etc. mount one power socket above the desk. It saves a lot of trouble just to plug in soldering station or even a portable desk lamp.

Hi what about an extractor fan or something as just opening windows might not be helpful all the time.

some more work...

not the final choice of machines - just what came to hand first...

Very nice.

I'm toying with the idea of building a man cave in the garden. Still trying to work out the finer details with Bev :D

That's a very good use of the space you have and a job well done

I wish I was as tidy, my desk gets buried with all the odds and sods that I have, computers are great but when you add on to them all the mice and keyboards and external drives etc it soon gets messy wherever I am (I really should put things away when not in use) ;)
