I need 10 spacers for my A4000 computers. Thank you very much for offering these to the group.

to all of those wanting stand offs, please read trough this thread for some options.

now i can make these at work but there is a catch! we are flat out at the moment, so what i need is a list of interested parties and how many each person wants, when we get a little quieter i'll see what i can do, so how many stand offs are needed?

cheers, JuvUK

:whistle:I looked up prices and am a bit surprised about how much they cost, therefore I did not order anything. I think keropi send me two for my 060 and the 040 is not fitted yet in the A3000. I really don't get why it is so hard to find them. I would have suspected a whole box of them would cost a beer :(

Thanks that you are willing to to do this. I think it is a good way to keep our old cards in good shape! If you need anything mate, I'll be there

I can use some too. How many would an A4000 D and a A3000T need?

Those spacers are for the A3640 (and almost all accelerators) that plugs on the A3000(T) or A4000(T) accelerator socket.

So, four units for each Amiga.

Bit of a bump, sorry, but if the head-count is still going, I could use 8, please!

I know I'm asking for high quantity... But, of course, I want to pay for these spacers. :)

i'm ordering the material today, hopefully it should arrive Tuesday:cool:

i make this 68!? (tee hee could do with someone ordering 1 more!!)

Poor Juvvy in the sweat shop making endless stand off's :D

@JuvUK

Hi my friend. Great News!!

If possible, remember I'm interested to buy 20 units. :)

Thanks a lot & Best wishes

rkauer says:

First, take a BIC pen (just the outer case), cut it to the exact right length and put a long enough screw inside, put a suitable screw nut on the other side.

That's exactly what I did with my CSPPC. Works nicely.

Oh and by the way, about these standoffs, you need to heed the following warning:

CPU stand-offs are not all the same length!! It depends on the card, be very careful!

In my case the original A4000T spacers were good for the original A3640 and the Cyberstorm MKII, but not for the PPC card.

I also understand there appear to be different spacers for different cards. However, as an Engineer, I must object to the measurement being taken in the above photos. That's overall length & is totally irrelevant.
What is important is the distance taken overall, from the shoulders. The rest just pokes through the pcb, making the shoulders of the support, the Datum measurement. ;)

@ Juzza

Heck m8y. You're gunno be a busy man. :)

Yep, I know that measurement is not correct, but did you read the comments attached to the pictures?

Shouldn't the distance be measured of the stops in the spacer, not from the ends?

I replied:

It should indeed, and I was wondering when someone would bust me for that. Well spotted. I was going to change/update the picture, but the second image I submitted clearly proves that the difference in lengths when comparing one spacer to the other, is due to the spacer length itself, not the retaining 'claw'. Another way of putting it is that the claw lengths are not significantly different, whereas the spacer lengths are.

When you see the picture of the card tilted, it makes sense, yes?

all i'm reading here is negative scare mongering, just list the sizes between the shoulders in mm.

they fit perfect on mu A3640, i don't know what card fitzsteve used them on.

i cut these on a lathe and then tap each end with a standard mobo screw thread. all i need is the size required and i'll cut them to size

so instead of stirring up panic, just be helpful and list the sizes required.

drama queen:p

/juvuk wanders off muttering to himself "i don't know try and help some people"

It's good to know that different boards use different sized spacers, so I will amend my request to Juv for 4 spacers to fit a CS MkIII, or if you like, the same ones as the CS PPC uses.

Actually writing this reminded me that Phase 5 supplied 4 new spacers with their CS cards when you bought them new. I never noticed at the time they were different to the Commodore ones

Edit: Um..... I dont know what size they should be because I dont have any. Does anyone know? :help:

Is the board the same size as CSPPC?

The CSPPC I installed in my A4000 sat perfect on the spacers Juvvy made me.

Steve.

Edit - Just saw your post Juvvy. Using mine with the A3640 at the moment.

@JuvUK

My spacers are needed for CS MK-II's & CSPPC's boards mounted on A4KD mobos.

Thanks

ok so what facts do we acutually know so far?

A3460 fitted by me, perfect
CSPPC fitted by fitzsteve, perfect.

so what's is the problem?

---------- Post added at 19:20 ---------- Previous post was at 19:16 ----------

i like the end shot of the cards, but one problem, i cant see the standoffs:(

would have been nice to see how the cards were sat, it seems odd that 4 standoffs of equal size make a card sit uneven, too high or too low i understand but too high on one side???
