Would you recommend the fastata? Does it have a similar cpu usage to normal ide?

Im trying to decide whether to track down a cyberscsi for my Cyberstorm 2 or get a fastata instead. Neither are particularly cheap but I imagine they're well worth it over the standard ide. I like the idea of scsi as I hear it has little cpu overhead compared to ide but I worry that I won't be able to run my Cyberstorm at 66mhz with scsi.

Hi again:) So I've upgraded my MK2@100Mhz and repeated the tests. So now we have results from the single machine:

MKII@75Mhz 1:1
Doom2: 24.7FPS
Doom2 CV64 (320x200): 30.5FPS
AmiQuake (timedemo demo1): 14.3

MKII@100Mhz 1:2
Doom2: 22FPS
Doom2 CV64: 27FPS
AmiQuake 14.4FPS

On the screen you may also see how memory transfers went down. 1st row 100Mhz 1:2, 2nd 75Mhz 1:1. Also @100Mhz the system became a little bit unstable. Sometimes I was able to run the full test, sometimes it failed - mostly because of the heat I guess. Also my results are much lower than @Kawazu which I don't fully understand. Anyway I'm going back to 75MHz 1:1.

@Hal
You get more fps by being as blind as me and just press enter when Adoom asks you for the resolution.
Just noticed that I ran with the prometheus and not the ecs :(
Ppl with a A4000 would still have a nice boost from their aga when we do this comparison. My fps is now about as your :) will update the thread with the new fps :

I downclocked my A4000D to 100MHz (A4000D, CS MKII 68060 @ 100MHz, 1/2 clock jumpered).

Doom2 AGA: 20.4
Doom2 CV64: 24.1
Doom AGA: 24.4
Doom CV64: 29.3
AmigaQuake CV64: 14.3
Novacoder Quake AGA: 16.2

All 320x200.

Olli.

As I got some 72.000MHz cristals, you can also add

MKII@72Mhz 1:1
Doom2: 24.3FPS
Doom2 CV64 (320x200): 29.2FPS
AmiQuake (timedemo demo1): 14.9

Actually it's almost the same as @75 but anyway:)

On 75MHz it was unstable (probably memory issue), but@72MHz it works like a charm.

Hi, I just did this last night as well for one of the members here. Its an awesome mod. I had it running at 80, 100 and 120 just fine. It seems a bit more stable at 100 though and wouldnt want to run it faster than that myself without doing a voltage increase slightly to the CPU maybe?

In any case this card runs faster than my CSPPC now that i have with a rev 6 doing 75Mhz! Crazy!
