Does my A4000 need recapping?

While i've got the board out of the case I would like to ask if it looks like it needs a recap before it goes back in? I've took lots of photos if someone has any concerns please let me know. Also I see I have a buster revision 390537-09 which I will take it means it's a revision 9. What would I need a revision 11 for if anything? any help would be great.

The way to know if you need recap is to check the pads of the caps. They should be metal color and relatively shinny. If they are dark gray and dirty looking then the cap has leaked already and corroded the pads. This can eat away (albeit very slowly) the tracks around the cap.

For comparison, on the above pictures the two next to the power connector is probably OK (picture 1758.), but some at the audio circuit had bad leaks already and needs replacemnt (picture 1750.).

all amiga need recap ! that's all , model 500 , 2000 and 3000 there is better quality capacitors but 20 year is big time ! i recommend recap motherboard and psu

Every Amiga needs recap even when Amiga works still fine. Recently I sent two mobos to recap even when they worked fine so I let them recapped just for sure. Only 3 capacitors were "OK" the others were bad.

My suggestions, when you buy Amiga today which has never been recapped, do it, send it to recap, you may prevent many problems with stability in the future.

Ive only looked at one picture and straight off the bat I said "Yes! get it re-capped asap"

Im no expert but I can see the tale-tale signs of capacitor pads looking dull and grotty! I would get it done so I knew it would be in great shape after a rebuild

Your buster is socketted, so yes absolutely change it for 11.

amigaresource.cx says: Most A4000s have Super Buster revision 9 chips which turned out to be having problems with Zorro III cards using DMA. => I would rather have DMA working

Where would I get one and how much would I expect to pay for one?

Only certain Zorro 3 cards had issues, most had fixes to addresses the buster 9's

Hikey is on the case, he is going to check the buster problems after the recap for me and then i will decide.
