I know what you mean.
When i started out about 1-2 years ago i was aming for an cheap 1200 or 3000D and if was lucky an 4000D

I sure did spend about 100EU on my first amiga but in some wierd way i just found more and more upgrades to buy and i have now spen about 2000-3000EU on amiga hardware in 1-2 years time.

If my wife found out about this she would cut the litle guy lose :run:

I can "help" you. I´ll sell you my blizzard 1260.
The sad thing is that as soon as I read that, instead of thinking "No way do I need that!" my thought was "Oooh, wonder how much he wants for it?" :picard

Get out of my head!

Get out of my head!

Familiar isn't the word, it's like you've stolen my thoughts!

My gf will most definitely leave me if I buy another computer of any type. The Raspberry Pi coming through the door was the last straw, but I asked for it.

Last year when I got back into this, all I was looking for on ebay was a PSU for the old A500 sitting in the top cupboard.

Now I seem to own three A500s, An A1200/3.1/WHDLoad/Apollo1230, a CD32... all manner of cf cards, adapters, joysticks/pads, other peripherals (why did I buy a sound sampler?).

and it didn't end with miggys...

ZX81, Spectrum 16k, Spectrum 128+2, C64....

so if you can solve this conundrum, please let me know :D

I startet with a cd32. Wanted to wait for the natami. But got bored and now have a lot. Has seperate economy so the wifie only complain about the space i use. But ive got my setup pretty compact.

Oh this so sounds like my situation but I have not spent quite so much.

When I was a kid it was my best mate's dad who had the amiga that we played on. Oh how I wanted one of those. That was only an a500.

Randomly was on ebay a few months back and saw an amiga for not that much.
Then of course I looked into it a little and saw an a1200 would be best. Found one I could collect to save on postage.
Also needed a compact flash hard drive etc.
Joysticks - I loved the Cheetah Mach 1+. Now got six or seven. need to make them 'tighter'
Joystick/mouse splitter - well it makes sense doesn't it.
RGB Scart cable - again, it makes sense.
A new mouse seems essential.
Gotta have a dustcover - nice original cream one - not transparent or garishly coloured.
Can't be doing with this booting to a cli prompt to run games due to low memory, best get a memory upgrade, 4mb Amitek Hawk as dont want to spend the extra on an accelerator.
Actually, now I have the Hawk, perhaps an accelerator would have been better - i might want to run the snazzier versions of CWB.
Blizzard Mk4 with 64mb that should do.
Perhaps a second amiga would be good as a project I could retrobrite and preserve would be an idea.
A spare set of keys to retrobrite would also be good.
I know I dont need them, but a second set of WB disks and manuals (I have none) would be good to go with my project amiga.
Although I have the Amitek hawk card in it, perhaps I should bid on a second Blizzard (only 32mb this time) for my project amiga as it seems to be going quite cheap. Thought I would get outbid but surprisingly won it (£107 all in with postage and the full box/packaging and manual).
Oh man how the hell did I end up here? And why am I still watching various items.....
:help:

Well I have just firmly emptied my Amiga moneybox into the coffers of Fitzsteve

Mind you, my ever growing miggy collection will shortly be receiving a serious shot in the arm in terms of performance !

All my spare money is now going on Gym related stuff. I do fancy another CD32 though (I said I'd not bother with another but the force of the Amiga is toooo strong! Maybe my Christmas present!)

In the last 14 months I have spent 4.353,46 EUR on retro computers/consoles/games etc....

I can do better than that :-D

With recent stuff I'm over just over 9000 in 14 months :wooha:
The biggest one, was the 3000T halfway 2011 and late 2011 a 4000T, but recently it's been 3 Indivision MKII's, 3 A1200's, Cyberstorm MK I fully decked out with scsi, some chips, cables and God knows what else.

In total I estimate to be over 15000 since the beginning in late 2009, before that, the word Retro didn't even cross my mind.

I did count of working Amiga's, including CDTV and CD32, I'm at 50 now, the 1200's make up for 1/5 of that, then the A500's, also 1/5, and then the A2000/2500/1500, again 1/5 and the remaining 2/5 is 3000D/T 4000D/T.

But I don't do the big stuff anymore, I'm now focussing on repairs/recaps and making every Amiga final with software, so games and demos.

2 Amiga 4000's are at the moment undergoing recap, my dead spare board will leave for the UK today or tomorrow.
If that can be fixed, I will get a nice pc case for that, as aftermarket Amiga towers are impossible to find here (yeah, Andy has one on here now, but with shipping and the possibilty of recieving it pile, nah ....).

I now do the small little things, like chips an accelerators from Kipper2K and Jens, but other than that, it's making every Amiga in perfect shape.
If I can get things for a low amount of cash or free, I'll take it, but I'm not going to spend a 4 figure amount on an Amiga or a high 3 figure amount on an accelerator card or RTG card.

And I thought I was a Mad Hatter :woot:

Through the years I've had several machines and consoles come and go, it was only 14 months ago I "decided" to get them all for keeps :D

Guess I am not quite up there yet with Buzzfuzz :)

Though $6,700 in 9 months :shhh:

I like to think I have it under control now :picard

Hello, I am a member of Amibay and I am a computerholic.:picard

This is a really bad thread imo.

I was shopping for consoles this morning.

I ended up buying some jeans instead :wooha: I'm cured! :D Although I do fancy that Jap Sega Mega Drive I saw.... hmmm

*Raises hand* I, for some reason, have 4 soundcards for my Apple IIgs. Why? Well.... umm..... because.

After 13 (or was it 15?) years I finally own a real Amiga. I have wanted one for a long time, mostly to have a Video Toaster. At first I was looking at 2000s and 3000s, then I realized that the Toaster 4000 works best in a matching Amiga 4000. So I went for that. Not likely going to be much in the way of upgrades though. Amiga hardware is a bit out of my price range compared to the Apple II stuff I purchased though the years.

I can't justify the expenses anymore. The hobby kind of lost its fun when the price tags went (way) up.

God - this is so much like what I'm going through, it isn't even funny (then again, it really is funny ). I'm going through something very similar - I got a bad case of the nostalgia's a month ago, and brought down my Amiga 500 that was in the attic since 1993 or so. And damn it all - it worked like it was never turned off (okay - I did have to blow off and re-seat some chips). I also had bought Amiga Forever (and also C64 Forever); they are WONDERFUL products, but it just isn't the same as playing games on my A500. I've also been purchasing various upgrades for it - to be honest, I'm not even sure if they will all work on the A500. But then again, considering that none of these upgrades cost more than PC games do nowadays (even when the Amiga upgrades are shipped from the U.K. or Germany), I don't feel to badly about it. The only thing that I purchased that I have any sort of buyer's regret is Anim Studio 2.01 - I bought it on on eBay after being unable in install the download version - I'm not even an animator but I got so frustrated with not being able to install it that I had a moment of weakness, known as Impulse Buying.

The bright side is earlier this year, my wife asked me to take over paying bills, and she's usually away when these purchases are delivered. Although I have a bad feeling one of these days she will ask to see a printout from Quicken - have you heard the analogy of being a driver and throwing trash in the back seat behind you, and what happens when one day you have to slam on your breaks? Well, now you will know the cause should you hear a scream from Phoenix, Arizona echoing across the globe
