Pioneer Alpha 18

Pioneer Alpha 18

Hi Folks
Pioneer (the Elite II remake) has a new monthly Alpha release. Versions for Mac OSX (available shortly), Windows and Linux are available here. http://pioneerspacesim.net/download

Have fun! :)

That's wonderful! Thanks for sharing, Geraldine. Is it going to be multiplayer? One of the screen shots showed a person's name above their ship.

Heather

As far as I aware Heather, there is no plans for multiplayer as yet. Its devs are aiming for a sandbox single player game, but who knows what the future may bring? As it is open source, anything is possible if a talented coder was to get involved. There is always possibilities, however, the use of the "Stardreamer" to speed up time during long voyages, would cause sync problems for players which would have to be addressed. There has been lots of discussion on this very topic concerning the possibility of a multiplayer Elite IV (or even a full on MMO) on the Frontier Forum.

Thanks Geraldine! I hadn't thought about the speed of time aspect. It doesn't seem like that could be worked around. We'll see what happens though!

Heliosphere

Heliosphere

Hi folks
Thought I would give you all a heads up on a new space sim trader in the works. I have checked out the vids for it and it looks very nice indeed in the range of features it has and is hopefully going to have.

Some highlights, full Newtonian flight model with the option to switch off all flight aids, fully functioning cockpit just like a flight sim, possibility of playable capital ships that you can wander around, community based mods to be encouraged, cross-platform compatibility and DRM free.

If your interested, do drop by the SSC to have a look at the developer's thread, bare in mind though that this game is still in early development and comments and suggestions are most welcome.

Here have a look here for the dev thread on the SSC http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/topic/2663-proto-faq/

And here for the vids http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xq7...pt1_videogames

Also the dev is a Miggy fan and has a 4000! I have informed him of this rather cool place of course so perhaps he will pay a visit

EDIT: Heliosphere now has it's own section within the SSC here a link http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/forum/63-heliosphere/

Buy Galaxias Dev A Beer

Hi Folks
Galaxias is a retro styled Elite clone, which recently retailed at £10. Now the dev is allowing the game to be downloaded for free and if you like it, he is asking if you will buy him a beer
