Get thee to this legal site http://www.frontierastro.co.uk/

Whut she said! Frontier is one of the very few games that are genuine Abandonware, released into the public domain by the publishers. Download yourself a copy and play on!

(If you get one that's still got the copy protection on, I think the trainers mentioned in the above thread will circumvent it, but I can't remember for sure)

Edit: or go here: http://www.sharoma.com/frontierverse/index.htm

There is a little patch available in that last site you posted here http://www.sharoma.com/frontierverse/patches.htm Dont know if this is just for the PC version though. If I could remember there was a simple hack you could do to the Amiga version, I did it to my copy and never got bothered by the police again, unless I wanted to be bothered that is....

I just found this:

Anyone seen it before? Seems to have a lot of good information in it.

The back of the book has the price, I almost fainted.

Yeah, I've got a copy of it myself. 'Tis damn good!

+1 for best game ever

probably the only game i bought in the 90`s

never did make it to Elite. I have to make do with being mostly adequate :D

Wow! What a great looking book... Oh, look, there's one on eBay UK with a BIN and free shipping to the USA... Click BIN, Payment Made, on its way to me. :) Yay! Now I'm getting a copy.

Thanks for sharing that. I would not have known about it otherwise.

Awesome stuff, Heather. Hope you get it soon and enjoy it :-)

It's not the first time this little book has poked its head onto these forums:

Do you spy it there, sat atop the A3000? :-D

Edit: OK, OK, it was just a cheap attempt to show off photos of my A3000 again, please forgive me.

WOW, I never thought there would be so many Frontier fans on here and some of you even have Tony Dillon's book too. Yes a handy little guide that will point you in the right direction, but don't believe the bit about the Mirage, it's a hoax I tell you! Mirage indeed!

You didn't expect to see a bunch of Frontier fans on here? It's the best game ever made for the Amiga! I'm delighted to see so many fans here, too!

Yes, the Mirage is a hoax. I believe David Braben has even stated as much. There are a couple of comments in there about a president of the Sirius corporation and some other bits that are complete rubbish.

Very True Andy, that it is. Hey, want to see some screen shots of the up and coming Elite 2 remake called Pioneer?

Behold!

The game is still very much at the Alpha stage and there is still lots to do, but it gets better and better with every release.

Guess (as per usual) he had nothing to say about Elite IV

just that he is STILL working on it and he believes he is now making progress and shock horror he has no plans to release an Amiga version:o

;)

I always wondered if he did an unreleased Amiga version of Elite 3? Back in the day I wrote to him asking just that, but unsurprisingly got no reply. Still, that's good news he is still working on Elite IV, but the wait continues....

i remember the stories that it was mostly written but never finished as it would need quite a high spec miggy to run it and most miggy users had only bought an extra floppy drive, so there weren't enough miggy users with a high enough spec to justify the release:(

LOL! Nope, not at all.

@Geraldine

That Frontier remake looks wonderful! I didn't play Frontier much back in the day but the little I did play I loved. :) I'm going to start playing again soon. :D

Heather

Glad you liked them Heather :), here is a You Tube vid showing the game in action, although this was taken from an early build. The game has progressed a bit since then http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1aVf-8qVdsg

Playing the original miggy version reminds me just how far Pioneer needs to go before its anywhere near finished. :D
