The only thing to do now is trying another computer.

Is it just me, or are the card edge contacts for the board itself slightly grubby ?
A soft rubber pencil eraser would get that off, might help who knows.

I've just seen your sale trade for this board.

You should definitly try it in someone else computer.
Why not send it to keropi for a try? I would also volunteer but my A2000 is not fully operational for now.

I thought of that, but paying postage costs to go, to get it back, and all this stuff, I think it's "cheap" money.

Unfortunately, I didn't have so much time to travel in another city and test it (as it was arranged with a friend in another city here, but never happened).:(

I know this is an old post but I was struggling with this problem for a few days :banghead: but found it to be the memory modules that were fitted.

When I replaced them with different ones my card started up straight away so if any other user is having a similar problem try a different set on 30-pin simms

It worked for me it may work for you ;)

I know this information is a bit late for you, J.T.Kirk

Hi, indeed it's too late for now (although I still have an A4000). The good thing is that I returned it back to the seller with a full refund back then.

If you got the same error, then possibly it's a solution you've got there with the SIMMs.

Hi all, I appreciate this is an old thread but I have a similar problem and need some help.

Instead of error 90 (although) I have received this once from the card I am getting error 98 "Cannot find GoldenGate-486"

The card is a 386 but has a 486 soldered to the card and the 386 has been replaced.

I never tested the card before the CPU swap out but I had no reason to think the card wouldn't work. There does look to be a couple of dodgy looking pins.

Currently the card is in a a4000D with 030 card, Workbench 3.1.4 and 3.1.4 roms.

The card doesn't have any memory but the Amiga has 16mb. Any ideas?

That does sound like it’s a hardware issue with the board. Does it appear in the early boot menu? What does showconfig or WhichAmiga show about the card?

The board worked fine for years, until I decided to remove the AMD 386SLC and replace it with the TI 486XSLC2. It shows up fine in early startup. It also seems to be communicating with the Amiga side, as the green LED on the GG comes on shortly after I launch Digger.

Do you know what version of glib.library and goldenpylon (in devs) you are using?

I think the most recent version of the install disk (in dms format) is on here

The goldengate holds its bios in a file, not on a rom, so perhaps if your files are older than the ones on that disk the bios you have is not compatible with the TI chip?

For reference in think I’m using bios 1.31.27 and glib 3.02 (will have to check those this evening)

Hmm. Any other isa cards? If there’s an fpu on the board then remove that

Ok, it’s starting to look like a fault with the install of the TI, or perhaps the cpu itself is dead :(

You may well be correct. The two TI upgraded boards I have used were upgraded from a 486SLC and 486SLC/2

Someone on A1K will know for certain if a GG386 can be similarly upgraded
