External floppy drive, yes it should be compatible - just a matter of fitting the gotek into the external floppy casing.

You're right. The Gotek Floppy Emulator in this mode is a Shugart compatible drive. You can use either an external casing from an original Amiga drive or use this adapter: https://it.storeslider.com/amiga-external-floppy-drive-adapter-gotek-compatible-171518859007e.html

Just for info for some other friends in my external floppy case (not original) it works with jumper in S0 position, NOT S1.
Maybe is somenthing in adapter that makes "the trick" !
And i discovered that with one usb key is working good, with another the selector.adf starts but seems you cannot save the "selected" adf in list so when Amiga reboot always only 000 on display and selector boot again...not a problem only to add an experience...
