When you have set your disks up you press the button for next disk

That sounds great I have ordered one now it looks a great bit of kit could you get it into the amiga 500 case without moding the amiga case

Yes but you need to be able to reach the buttons for disk changing

Any white or beige ones to match the Amiga colour ?

Hi there Johnim,

I just noticed your reply and see that you are up and running now :)
I'm still waiting for the flasher to arrive but it shouldn't be long now, I really like the idea of the workbench ADf's being there ready to use instead of floppies

Ok guys I have finally got my hands on a Gotek! Arrived this morning :)

I bought this lot:

Firstly! I decided to go for the white/grey gotek hoping it would match the amiga a bit. The colour actually fits in better with an Atari ST. So basically the plastic is the cheap stuff these things tend to always have! I have decided to order a black one to get an idea what would look best.

I have noticed something regarding the leds on these things! Some have both visible, some others only have the green visible. I will open mine up in a bit as I am hoping the red is sitting inside, might as well drill a hole for it. Seems silly this was not done already? Cost I suppose.. I dunno lol.

Already have everything else. Got some pin-strips to solder onto the board.

I am hoping the serial programmer is ok? I shall hopefully get around to trying all this out later tonight :)

My USB flasher came yesterday and after loading in the driver for it, it worked reasonably well although I had to unhook the cables a couple of times to get it to read the device and remove the protection. Same thing for programming the new hex file but it worked. The flasher I bought was this one :-

I had to use google to find a driver for it, it does windows XP etc using different drivers for each operating system.

@ElectroBlaster

Yours is a differnt chip to mine but you will also need to download the driver for your flasher, just google "CP2102 driver" and they are there as in this site for example :-

http://www.pololu.com/docs/0J7/all

It is a case of try it and see with the drivers, with mine it worked first time and its probably easier to install the drivers before plugging in the USB flasher. I also found it was easier to put the hex file on my desktop so that it was easier to find than trying to locate the actual folder I had it in.

I have received Gotek Floppy Emulators :D

So I just plug in Amiga 1200 then put some ADF Amiga software on memory stick then put into GOTEK Floppy?

You need to flash the drive with Amiga firmware using a usb flasher before it will work with the Amiga. If you have trouble doing this, try asking for some assistance as there are plenty of UK members with the required hardware/knowledge

That's good to hear Johnim,

I am thinking of getting another one or two for an amiga and maybe the CPC if the firmware becomes available. On the Gotek I flashed with the Amiga firmware, I found it didn't like a couple of my flash drives. However I had no problems with the 2 Sandisk ones I tried :)

At the moment, my drives only have the one folder which I called "Games" this contains ADF's of Gods, Superfrog, Silly putty and a couple of other ones.

The " SELECTOR.ADF" is on the root of the drive i.e. not in any folder which I am mentioning here so people can see where to put things. When I get round to it, I will make a few more folders for storing games and Workbench disks etc, maybe in alphabetical order or something like that.

I think a print off of what is stored in the SELECTOR.ADF list would also be handy because with having 30 slots/disk images available in the menu, it is not easy to remember the number each disk is at. Although it would soon be useless once you re-arrange/change the games in the menu ;)

This is a great device, a bit awkward to get communicating for flashing but well worth it once its done, my RX and TX leads were the opposite of what the advert said so that didn't help a lot, I am just pleased that the live and negative were correct

I have used a 8gb sandisk and a cheapo 8gb drive and both are fine

I have put mine in 0 to Z folders i hope the new version comes out soon to have upto 999 slots and selector in root
